One more safety PSA. These shouldn't be stored in hot garages or sheds, temps exceeding 120 can cause combustion

Lucked out and got three packs of three. It's ridiculous that they are so expensive now, I haven't seen these bottles for this price since about 2016.

Seems that it's not even a product most Targets carry. Barely a reason nowadays to visit them, overpriced and much of their quality is low end.
Hard disagree. Target is the only store I actually enjoy shopping at.

How do you folks dispose of these when empty? Can't throw in the trash, can't find a place to recycle them.
Easy solution is not to buy em! They are such a waste! for the price of one you can get a full gallon!

I ended up doing that as the 3 pack was 50miles away while the singles were available 2 miles away, same cost per item so didn't make a difference in price.

If you go camping a lot a 5 lbs might be worth it as it is reusable. The Coleman's are not meant to be refillable but everyone does it anyways. I find the 5 gallons to be very space efficient esp in the car.

For safety reason, I don't recommend you doing so, these containers are not designed for refillment.
Despite all the TD people are throwing for your comment, you're absolutely correct and that these should not be refilled. Why is that so? It's because the containers are relatively thin walled and there is no way to accurately measure just how much gas and liquid propane is going into the canister. The problem that occurs is that if you put in too much liquid propane it will expand when the tank gets back up to room temperature, and that will cause the internal pressure of the canister to very easily exceed the pressure rating that it was designed for.

I've seen people fill these and then have the internal valve break an hour later and just spray LP & gas directly up into the air. I've also seen swollen canisters where the tank had bowed out and partially crushed the canister down into a more spherical shape. One of them was completely empty, which means that it had a rupture that fortunately didn't actually cause the canister to burst. The guy that had refilled them had no idea until I pointed it out to him.

If you want to have refillable containers, you can often buy them for about $15-$20 each on sale, and they are wwaaaay more heavy duty.

Love propane since it lasts forever. I have some tanks from 1962 that work like new.
so you love the tank or the propane?

1962 but not rusted?

These little propane tanks have gotten so expensive. Use to be around $5 for a twin pack Walmart. Now it's like $10 or more. So this is a good deal at the moment .

Yep, that's why I went ahead and picked up 4 of the singles, I haven't seen prices like this in a while. I don't use them all that often but since they last forever as long as you can keep the canisters from rusting, might as well have some on hand. I vacuum pack these in food saver bags and keep them indoors where it's climate controlled.

I actually agree with slacky. Targets in IL that I've gone to have gone down in quality lately
