Costco had a 1500 cyberpower true sine was $180 that I was hoping would go onsale for $150 like it has before.. for some reason they removed it from the site.

I ended up buy the apc 1500 true sine for $220 as most gold rated psu's claim they need true sine.. how true that is but I have one and they run on it when power goes out, so got a second

810W max?
What happens if you accidentally plug a 1500W heater into the battery backup outlet?
Will it just trip a breaker switch?
Or will it fry the electronics and brick the (battery backup part of the) unit? Which is what happened to my old (low end model) APC about 12 years ago :-(

These pretty much all have protection for drawing too much power

Even the APCs made around 2005 - 2010?
iirc, at the time, APC said that's just the way they're made. No protection. Not warrantied for that. They don't offer any way to fix that. :-(

Make sure to test these out. Mine's in the basement for the router/switch and such, so it's ok, but it does make a (not loud, but noticeable) hissing/high-pitched sound. If you're using for a Living Room/Office, keep in mind at quite times, you might be annoyed at the sound. These are not high end, so probably just charging circuits sound, but still, annoying. On a positive note, held up well during a recent power outage, router never missed a beat (over 5 hours).

I also don't know if the USB-C port is direct DC to batteries or works from the AC circuits. If it were direct DC, getting a USB-C powered router, like google one, might be the best option. Would last for days, I would assume (probably not, because the AC circuitry would still run continuously)

It might be a 12v sla motorcycle battery, I've replaced one with this https://www.acehardware.com/depar...lsrc=aw.ds but it might not be the exact same model that I had - open it up and check
Thanks for the link! I'll crack her open and check at some point soon,

Crack it open and see what batteries are installed. I have some 1500va ones and I believe the replacements can be found most anywhere a lot cheaper than buying a new unit. Google is your friend. Smilie
Thanks, I was just asking in case someone already knew.

12v 7.5ah batteries inside. You can replace them with just about any 12v 7.5 - 9 ah batteries.

I like the sigmas tek and duracell batteries as replacements.
Thanks!

still under warranty? They sent me new batteries for free. Just required costco receipt which I had reprinted in store.
Probably not but I guess I can call them and see.

People saying this is the normal price in store... maybe true but my Costco sadly almost never carries these in stock so online is the only is the only way to get them.

If you purchase online, just be aware the shipping department just slaps a label on the retail box and it's highly likely that your UPS will arrive in pieces, like mine.

I ordered two of the true sine 1500va ones last time and they 'arrived', but the box and the styrofoam had disintegrated. They didn't even bother to tape the top or bottom shut.

You can also search amazon for cyberpower replacement batteries and there are a lot of 3rd party options since they're just lead acid batteries inside.

Also, if you have a car battery refresher/charger, you can try to revitalize the batteries too. They're sealed lead acid but you can technically try to add water if needed - just don't attempt it if you don't know what you're doing, the chemicals are dangerous. Please be safe!

i too would love for some true sine wave sale to happen, i am always a bit hesitant to do simulated. i dont know why they dont just retire simulated since they have the technology to do true sine, i mean why make fake sine still if you can do the good true sine lol

I got one of these for like $80 in store a few years ago, The batteries on it seem to have gone bad though, does anyone have any recommendations for replacement batteries or is it just easier/cheaper to get a whole new unit?
You might consider upgrading to lifepo4 type 12v batteries. Price wise they are coming down closer to sla and have 4 times the lifetime so in the long run they cost less. Search "12v lifepo4" on Amazon. There are DIY'ers doing swaps but there's not much long term data since only been year or 2 since prices dropped below $100.
