I bought this for work and I have had to go in twice to replace the ratchet. The directional selector gets stuck and ends up popping out. Probably ok for lite use at home. Or if you don't mind going into Ace to have it replaced.

Total crap though. I wouldn't waste my time or money on that set.

I buy a couple of these every time they go on sale. They are gr8 for gifts and for replacing lost or damaged sockets in bigger tool boxes. The ratchets are decent, but they don't last. And good luck finding replacements for warranty. My local Lowes haven't had any in stock for the last dozen or so times I've went in.

After thinking about it, the ratchet is only good for home use. The half dozen or so I have bought for work have all broken in a very short time. But for 10 bucks, I can't really complain as the sockets themselves are worth it. I miss the old craftsman ratchets. I miss Sears...

They need to sell 5 packs of 8mm and 5/16".

Those 2 are always missing from formation.

The 1/4"ones just constantly fall off the adapter.

Review of the HF set " FABULOUS PRICE. This is my 4th purchase of this item. I had very good experience with my first purchase, and I bought 3 more for my sons. This is a cheap set. Sockets are small and thin. Ratchet is cheaply made with a plastic center. Yet, this set is fine for non-professional light duty [like for a kitchen drawer]. This item is NOT suitable for professional car repairs, but could be adequate for light duty work that does not require high torque "

Sure, but shipping is $6.99 (more than the sockets).

What is "light" work for a ratchet set? Are nuts and bolts in cars torqued looser when the car is "at home"?

Are you a professional mechanic? If you're not then it doesn't seem like this set would be good for "light work" "at home" since you had to replace it twice... and if you are a pro why would you buy a $10 ratchet set? Just curious.

I'd rather buy the Harbor Freight one for 6 bucks that has 2x more sockets.
Forgot about that set. Thanks!

That maybe true but for something used very little such as for stocking a second home it works. And if its stolen no loss.

Broke a wrench and HF replaced. No receipt was required.

If you only need to use a ratchet set a handful of times a year, then the HF set is for you. I would classify that as "light work" use. If you need a more dependable ratchet set, I wouldn't get either of these.
