A little expensive but this really checks all the boxes for me. I really really want an OLED laptop screen, and 12th gen Intel processor given the performance gains over 11th gen. I am, however, worried that the 12700H being "too much" for a very portable notebook like this. Is it going to sound like a jet engine under load?

Edit: Compared with the current 14" Pavilion deal, we are paying about $300 more for OLED, i7-12700H vs i5-1235U, and supposedly a more premium chassis design. Neither has a touch screen...

I think it will be power limited to 55W-70W range which this chassis can handle. The Envy 14 Clamshell model, using almost same chassis, from last year was a le to maintain 45W constantly with its 1195G7. This will be still better than the 12th gen P and U series CPUs.

I prefer to have a 12th gen i5 CPU, something like i5-12500H, with DDR5 memory and a bigger SSD…

Pricewise or performancewise?

If worried about temps, just disable turbo and you'll see better temps and battery, for maybe a slight loss of processing.

I recommend on every laptop, especially intel laptops.

Disable Turbo will affect performance of any modern Intel processors by a huge margin because there is a very huge gap between the base speed and the Turbo speed, sometimes over 1 GHz. It's not at all slight loss in processing. With the hybrid architecture of 12th gen, it's even more complex. What can be done is to reduce the max TDP Settings using XTU to make sure the cpu doesn't consume too much power and heat up.

Yea, a laptop like this is the perfect candidate for a notebook sticker kit.

The screen, CPU, mem looks good to me, wish it has bigger SSD, is SSD upgradable?
Also, the main ports on the right-hand side looks dumb to me...
I'm considering buying one, I'm very sensitive to fan noise, how's the fan noise?

just about all laptops nowaday use standard nvme slots. so yes, ssd are nearly all upgradable.

ram is another matter..... There are still too many manufacturers making too many models with non upgradable ram ;(
