Have this game and have been playing it for a few weeks.
Having online access helps make the game more fun for sure. Otherwise, playing by yourself probably isn't as fun as wii sports because of a lack of practice modes and progress tracking. There is a PRO ranking but again, that requires online play.
The games themselves are fun and I find the controls to be more precise than wii sports. No more sitting on the couch and flicking your wrist to play tennis. It won't result in good results.
Each sport is fun in its own way and is definitely a personal opinion. My favorites are badminton, volleyball, and tennis.
Badminton and Tennis have good controls and require strategy, timing, and quick thinking.
Volleyball controls are a bit monotonous but can get exciting if you're caught in a long rally. I find myself getting hyped and pumped making sure I get that dig or kill.
I find bowling to be more precise than wii bowling but controls are similar. the survival tournament in online mode is fun. otherwise, it seems very similar to wii bowling.
soccer and chambara are ok. i like soccer on occasion when I want to play sitting down. the controls are limited but can be fun. The most frustrating thing is being paired with a team that doesn't want to work together. I can see it being a lot more fun with friends all working together and playing in an online tournament. Maybe this will be a thing someday?
all in all, I think gameplay is good and more precise than wii sports. without online, it can probably get a little boring if you're playing by yourself and is definitely better with online play.
Worth $40? I'd say no. $20 is probably the sweet spot. But I don't regret buying it and get a good sweat playing online.
When people are comparing this to Wii Sports, I'm surprised no one is mentioning that Wii Sports was bundled free with consoles. I feel like Switch Sports should have been a free download, or less than $10.
Doesn't live up to wii sports legacy. Rather, it appears tarnished. Did they lose the team that made the game great? More limited than wii sports and unlockables appear to be online-only.
Save the money. Yet another forceful attempt at making one do online subscription. That's my beef.
Been wanting this but mixed reviews so I guess I can wait. Since my tv area setup doesn't even much space to play anyways. Plus I also still have the old wii sports and kinect sports if i do get the urge to play similar games.

I picked up this game digital since I figured its going to be a frequent pick up and play. From the little I played it seems ok, the bowling feels different than Wii sports which I still play. I mostly got this to play with my kid, if you don't have anyone to play with locally I don't think there is a rush to buy it.

Oos. I went to Best Buy to price match because I had a gift card laying around and by the time I got to the register it was sold out at Amazon and BB wouldn't price match. Lol good times.
I was going to price match via BB chat but it said 278 minute wait.

Well Mario kart 8 is a $60 game but was bundled free with the Switch at Xmas pre-pandemic.
And if this should be free then that would seem to mean it is something another developer can easily duplicate. But alas there is not a good competitor/substitute afaik.
