It would perform so much better if there were a way to seal that "axle" in place (glue or plastic welder maybe).
After dealing with it for an entire softball season and lots of heavy ice chest lifts into the back and lots of wheel fall offs, I now exclusively look for a better designed system when buying ice chests. You wouldn't think it is such a big deal, but a heavy ice chest with a leaning lift or leaning set down into the back of an suv... it only takes the wheels falling on your toe once to regret the purchase. I've hit my toes a few times and just load and unload it with the wheels off, wishing they were mounted better.

I had been watching it and it had been $100 and I almost bought a used one on marketplace for like $70. Sadly leaving for cub scout camp tomorrow so it won't make it on this trip, but good for the next one.

We store our 100qt full of stuff when not in use. Basically just make the cooler into a box. Storing it empty is a huge waste of space…just make sure it's fully dry inside!

Thanks for the info on this. Went back and cancelled the 50 qt and ordered the 100 instead. Hope the wheels on that aren't an issue. Was also thrown off by cooler being black? WTF? Thank you OP for this head up as well….
