I drove for 20 minutes to a Best Buy the other day just to be told that my phone (Z Flip 3) was not on their trade in list, even though I said I did the same deal just a week ago at a different store. I argued for 20 minutes and didn't get anywhere, so the next day I went to a different store and got the deal in less than 10 minutes.
Not all Best Buy employees are trained the same, so don't be discouraged if one store says no, and just go to a different one.
Then, they may believe you but have trouble figuring out their system. When they pull up the model for the trade in, they have to go past the initial screen. When they do, the promo should show up. Then it's going to ask them for the promo code. That code is literally SAMSUNG. It's nowhere to be found otherwise.
I've traded in 3 phones under this promo because of the high values they're offering. Each experience varied.
1) First store did it without issue once I balked at the low trade in and mentioned the promo. He knew everything.
2) Second store couldn't figure out where the promo was and is responsible for the info I provided above.
3) Third guy refused, said they don't do trade ins and when shown the promo called his manager. Manager said Best Buy would have to be stupid to do this and refused. Lol. This was the same store as the first time, just different employees. Went to another store and they did it just fine.
Point is, the experience will vary widely depending upon the knowledge level of the employee. Just be polite and patient and stick to your guns. Most of them just aren't aware of the promotion or familiar with how to do it. One manager was so happy when I told her I thought I knew the promo code that she fist bumped me and thanked me profusely twice. Only one guy was a complete @$$.

I got lucky though to be able to get one and trade in and ultimately get a GC.
You really think a BB rep getting a bit more than minimum wage will read every single promotion inside that folder and study all the procedures or will they spend their spare time chitchat with others?
ANyone tried upgrading your existing line (I have a line that is out of contract) but not getting the deal if I am upgrading

At another store an equally moronic employee even arrogantly informed me from the start that he is "THE T-Mobile expert who handles all of the T-Mobile transactions at their Best Buy store". When I explained the deal, he looked at me like I asked him to solve a Rubik's cube in under 8 seconds. He said "I can't do that here. You would need to do a trade like that at a T-Mobile store," and immediately walked away.
Congrats to those that were able to find cooperative employees. For me, it was too time consuming and frustrating to deal with stupid. Instead, I did my deals via Samsung. Their reps suck too but at least their deals work out for me.
The s22 has had bad press since launch. Samsung keeps running promos and deep discounts to keep units moving. It is merely smoke and mirrors to keep their sales figures looking strong.
I have sold 3 iPhone 13, 1 iPhone 13 Mini, and 2 iPhone 11 phones while the one new s22 I have is still unsold with zero offers. Nobody wants the thing.
I know it's in store only and on the system at the store it only shows up as 350
$350 TIV for standalone trade in with no purchase. Walk with $350 BB GC.
$350 TIV for an activate later (or never) unlocked version Galaxy purchased on line or in store. Pickup/Trade in store.
$700 TIV for a carrier version Galaxy or iPhone. Can order online or in store, pickup/trade in store.
$800 TIV (Samsung TIV promo) purchase unlocked Samsung phone in store and trade in store.
The $700 carrier TIV for me is usually just net $35 less than the Samsung $800 because of how taxes are calculated here. However, right now the Unlocked versions are $50-100 or more cheaper as well. Not to mention you are buying an Unlocked phone with out the carrier bloatware. . .
