I drove for 20 minutes to a Best Buy the other day just to be told that my phone (Z Flip 3) was not on their trade in list, even though I said I did the same deal just a week ago at a different store. I argued for 20 minutes and didn't get anywhere, so the next day I went to a different store and got the deal in less than 10 minutes.
Not all Best Buy employees are trained the same, so don't be discouraged if one store says no, and just go to a different one.
Then, they may believe you but have trouble figuring out their system. When they pull up the model for the trade in, they have to go past the initial screen. When they do, the promo should show up. Then it's going to ask them for the promo code. That code is literally SAMSUNG. It's nowhere to be found otherwise.
I've traded in 3 phones under this promo because of the high values they're offering. Each experience varied.
1) First store did it without issue once I balked at the low trade in and mentioned the promo. He knew everything.
2) Second store couldn't figure out where the promo was and is responsible for the info I provided above.
3) Third guy refused, said they don't do trade ins and when shown the promo called his manager. Manager said Best Buy would have to be stupid to do this and refused. Lol. This was the same store as the first time, just different employees. Went to another store and they did it just fine.
Point is, the experience will vary widely depending upon the knowledge level of the employee. Just be polite and patient and stick to your guns. Most of them just aren't aware of the promotion or familiar with how to do it. One manager was so happy when I told her I thought I knew the promo code that she fist bumped me and thanked me profusely twice. Only one guy was a complete @$$.

I have a note 20ultra that is supposed to get 800 when traded, I am thinking about trading it if I don't have to pay off EIP since the deal is so good to get the s22 ultra.
I got the note 20 ultra on promo credits, those credits still have about 8-9 months left on them.

My mom sure did, but like some of the users reported in this thread, some stores won't let you double dip(First store). She just went to the second store, and the rep would process the trade-in as a gift card, but only showed $600.
1) 800 promo Gift Card credit is only towards a purchase of a Z flip 3 or S22 model, that needs to be activated at time of purchase, they won't let you walk out with the 800GC.
2)Only the Unlocked model is currently at 899, but when trading in a qualifying phone for $800 the price showed $1299, the Bestbuy associate needed to work their magic to price match it to 899.
so I think this deal is very YMMV, since it requires luck and competence of your best buy associate.

The other thing I've thought about is maybe buying it for what ever price they show it at then contact support through chat and have them price match/credit it back in some way.
