Your math is correct, but just know that some Best Buy wouldn't know how to process the enhanced trade in value correctly. I suggest you bring a print out showing the $450 trade in value, but even then, there is no guarantee that you'll get it.

I drove for 20 minutes to a Best Buy the other day just to be told that my phone (Z Flip 3) was not on their trade in list, even though I said I did the same deal just a week ago at a different store. I argued for 20 minutes and didn't get anywhere, so the next day I went to a different store and got the deal in less than 10 minutes.

Not all Best Buy employees are trained the same, so don't be discouraged if one store says no, and just go to a different one.

FYI, you only get these prices if you activate the phone on the big 4 carriers.

When you go in the store to trade in, many of them will have trouble with the trade in value. They'll offer you whatever low amount they would typically give. You'll need to correct them and tell them it's a promo. Show them the webpage on your phone on the BestBuy site (go to any S22 product page and there's a blue heading above the price, click that).

Then, they may believe you but have trouble figuring out their system. When they pull up the model for the trade in, they have to go past the initial screen. When they do, the promo should show up. Then it's going to ask them for the promo code. That code is literally SAMSUNG. It's nowhere to be found otherwise.

I've traded in 3 phones under this promo because of the high values they're offering. Each experience varied.

1) First store did it without issue once I balked at the low trade in and mentioned the promo. He knew everything.

2) Second store couldn't figure out where the promo was and is responsible for the info I provided above.

3) Third guy refused, said they don't do trade ins and when shown the promo called his manager. Manager said Best Buy would have to be stupid to do this and refused. Lol. This was the same store as the first time, just different employees. Went to another store and they did it just fine.

Point is, the experience will vary widely depending upon the knowledge level of the employee. Just be polite and patient and stick to your guns. Most of them just aren't aware of the promotion or familiar with how to do it. One manager was so happy when I told her I thought I knew the promo code that she fist bumped me and thanked me profusely twice. Only one guy was a complete @$$.

Success today! I got a S22U S256 ordered. Traded my Tmobile S20FE for $400. In WA they take tax on full purchase price $899. No issues with the $899 number. I had to leave my trade in on the spot and will come back next week Tuesday when the new Ultra arrives. Total cost $589, not a bad deal.
The taxing structure for this Samsung TIV promo is pay taxes on full MSRP for most states, as it's not a normal trade in. Think of it as handing over your phone to Samsung in exchange for a gift card towards your new Samsung phone purchase payment at BB. IF WA always charges taxes on full sales price on normal trades on paid in full phones, then this is no different for you. But my state only charges taxes after the TIV is subtracted on normal trades, so it's another calculation I have to make when deciding trade in avenues.

Yes, ignore the guy telling you that it has to be "unlocked".
I just BYOD to open a new line Tmobile at Costco to get $300 costco card. Can I buy this unlock S22 Ultra with activation on this line in Best buy deal?

Here's my update.
Just got back from Best Buy where a knowledgeable rep was able to order a black S22 Ultra and a burgundy one. The black one was in stock so all he did was activate the sim and didn't even open the phone. The burgundy one was shipped to store so they can activate it. Picking it up Tuesday.
Used my two $800 gift cards and today there was no problem ringing up both of them for $899 each. I paid $365 for both out of pocket after using the gift cards.

I think whatever was the problem in their system the past few days might have been fixed.
So they didn't put $800 as bill credit to your phone carrier?

I just went to best buy today and the rep said that I will have to activate my carrier through best buy, so $800 trade-in will be in form of bill credit.

My current S21 Ultra is also receiving bill credit for another trade in. If I trade in my S21 ultra, I will loose all remaining credit on it as per the rep

Yes you can. Might lose the Costco shop card, but most likely not. . .Don't forget to trade something in with the Samsung elevated TIV promo to lessen the $899 S22U cost. . .

NO. This point of this deal is $800 TIV credit now, not bill credits, under the Samsung elevated TIV promo. . .towards purchase of an unlocked Samsung phone, thought you choose activate now with a carrier as the price of phone is $400 cheaper.

Yes you need to activate through your carrier, but that is activating an unlocked phone with your carrier, with all credits in lump sum up front. . .not bill credits.

Losing bill credits for current S21U you trade in depends on your carrier. Please specify your situation in full if you want a better complete answer. . .That includes your carrier, intended purchase phone if not S22U, trade in phone, trade in phone ownership status, etc. etc.

So S10+ fetches $400 under the Samsung TIV promo, and the S22U unlocked with TMO activation on existing line costs $899.

Don't see many trade in phones you could buy to get closer to the max $800 TIV, net, compared to S10+ you already own and have used. If by chance your area has a TMO ZF3 at BB for pickup in the next couple of days, it would be $499-S10+ trade of $220, plus tax, and option of grabbing a galaxy watch 4 series for $50 . .and get $800 TIV towards S22U in the end.

Please note, the sales price on the S22U and/or the free upgrade to 256GB ends Sunday night. So some other options normally feasable might not make sense vs. just trading in S10+ for $400 and getting sales price of S22u now.

If you could manage to find and get an Flip 5G in the next few days, the trade in on that is $800 as well, but cost might be $250-400+ locally or what is going to get to you by Sunday, and used flips seem to have many quality issues. . .

But if the Z Flip 3 is a new purchase as part of that other deal.... you still have to account for that. Yes, you get $800 trade in credit for it, but you still pay $500 for it in order to be able to trade it in (assuming it's not an old phone that was already had and was bought specifically within the last couple of weeks or so with the other promo to use to trade in towards the S22U).

So 160$ out the door after the trade in, plus the $500 it cost to buy the Z Flip in the first place. Or am I missing something?
I paid 549.99+tax for z flip3 and watch 4 classic 46mm LTE. Then I traded both z flip3 that I bought and Note20 Ultra that I had for 1600 gift cards. S22 ultra 256GB is 899.99 + tax. So, I spent 582.99 and Note20 Ultra to get S22 Ultra 256GB, Watch 4 classic 46mm LTE, and 646 Bestbuy gift card.

Nope. I already had two Best Buy gift cards worth $800 each.

Just a one time payment of whatever wasn't covered by the gift cards.

All the rep did was activate the SIM card because that's what was required to get the phones for $899 each.

Maybe the rep you spoke with confused the unlocked version with the T-Mobile carrier version.

Just get something else to trade in or buy the S22U at the discounted price. I have a Note 20U and probably to get the S22U today, would rather just keep my Note to have as a backup, or let my nephew use it. It's starting to show its age a bit and has been a bit wonky lately, but its been great to me so I'd feel bad trading it in

I had a low use Note 20 ultra bronze I kept as a backup phone up until today.

I already have a S22Ultra 256gb on order after trading in my Z flip I got for under 500 during the sale and XR trade + rewards, double-dipped that by getting the s22 ultra 256gb order in and paying the 99+tax difference.

I thought about it for a little bit and decided it was wiser to take the Note20Ultra 128gb pay the 99+taxes to upgrade it to another S22 Ultra 256gb than keep it.

Kinda wanted to keep the last "Note" named phone since I was a fan of the Note series since Note 1, but the more I thought about it, it was more about nostalgia than practicality, so decided to trade it since the S22ultra is every bit "Note" as the Note20 but better.

What will I do with 2x S22 Ultras? will prob keep one as a backup and possibly trade one when the next S23 Ultra or Z fold 4 deal or promo comes out. Applause
