The X81CH is equivalent to the X800H. Rtings reviewed the 55" which has an IPS panel, and the 85" in this thread has a VA panel, so much of the Rtings review does not apply. The IPS model reviewed received mediocre scores for movies and gaming due to low contrast ratio. This 85" would receive higher movie and gaming scores due to the higher contrast ratio of a VA panel. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x800h

Very good information. One thing I would say is the viewing angle score will be much lower for the 85 inch VA panel. The viewing angle score for the 55 inch IPS panel is 8.4, but the VA panel would be somewhere in the mid to upper 5's.

This is a great TV for the price. I bought it last month when it was 1299. I have 8 big windows my hall and still can see great bright picture clearly. I'm not worry much about viewing angle, as most of the time you will be right in front of the screen and too much of acute agle is anyways going to hurt your neck.

For 85" inch if the TV is mounted slightly at 3 feet above the ground when it reaches to almost 7 feet above above ground for an 8 feet high floor, the viewing angle is still appropriate and good when you watching it 20 feet away?
Got this last month with the Costco Shop Card promo ($1399 -$200 costco shopcard = $1999)
For the price.. you cannot beat it and I'm plenty happy with the 85".
Colors are nice and vibrant, it's plenty bright in my living room with multiple windows. VA Panel so the contrast is fantastic.
Also this is a GOOGLE/ANDROID TV. One of the best TV interfaces as it has chromecast/apple air play built it. Works fantastic with google assistant to turn on and off the TV as well.
As others have noted, this is not the same TV from Rtings as this 85" has the VA panel vs IPS. The VA panel should perform much better.
Only con I have is since the TV doesnt't have local dimming, the blacks in a pitch-black room can show should slight cloudling/graying.
At the end of the day, when I have friends and family come over, I have an 85" TV and it's awesome!

60hz potentially not good for some people when watching sports. Though I have a 60hz tv for years and viewing sports was never a problem for me.
No local dimming. This could be quite noticable especially if you come from plasma, or any led tvs with local dimming even with just 32 zones.
No eArc, hdmi 2.0 only and app interface a bit slow due to being a 2020 model. But these are all minor issue.
