Have this case, great case but old now. No usb C which is a dealbreaker in 2022. Tons of room for HD SSDs and Fans though. Got it for 45 bucks in 2015.

This was my first case I built in. I took the guts out of an Dell xps and shifted to this case then over time replaced things bit by bit. It worked well for years but agreed it's a little outdated now.

No USB C, but has FDD/Optical driver bay. Looks like a case from 20 years ago.

For reference, the motherboard installed in the case in Amazon's pics is a z77, which supported 2nd and 3rd gen Intel i-series CPUs (Sandy/Ivy Bridge, circa 2012).

That sure is a z77 Ivy bridge board, but I still appreciate the optical drive slot. I could also use the floppy drive slot for additional io including adding for USB c.

Pretty sweet cheap case for a media storage/TV streaming machine. Combined with that cheap gigabyte b450 deal that has on board HDMI 2.0, put in an Athlon 3000G and you can have a TV computer to output in 4K/60Hz all your favorite media. I'm going to put in 4x16TB HDDs (3x3.5 inch slots plus converting the 5.25 to another 3.5) and have all the promz in one place lol.

I just built someone a PC using the sister NR400 case. Let me tell you that you'll have a hard time using a 240mm radiator if you have a liquid cooler. You can't mount it to the top with a DVD drive installed. I ended up putting it in the front after removing the hard drive cages. Just from pictures it looks like this one would have similar limitations.

Thanks for the info. BTW I am in the process of upgrading an old NAS system, placing components in a new Cooler Master N400 case. I got it for $89. I like the N400 because it can fit up to seven 3.5" drives. Could convert the 5.25" bay into additional storage for more 3.5" drives if even more expansion needed down the road.

However, I discovered after buying that the included fans use 3pin-to-molex (4-pin/peripheral) connections.. boo! This means I can't control the fan speed via PWM, as they don't connect to the motherboard.. just to the power supply. The fans will run at full speed all the time.. so I'm hoping the fans are quiet. If not I may have to spend more $$ to buy fans that I could connect via 4-pin PWM connectors to fan headers on the motherboard, and perhaps keep the fans that came with the case as spares for a future system.

I bought this from Amazon and the product listing didn't mention they were 3 pin fans... but it also didn't say they were PWM either. When I checked Cooler Master's website, the product listing for N400 indicates the fans are 3-pin. So I would have seen that if I had checked the Cooler Master website. I still probably would have bought the case anyway, because there are not many cases I could find costing less than $100 that store more than four 3.5" drives. The N400 case also has a dust filter on the inside of the case, right below the power supply. So to change the dust filter, you would need to remove the power supply??? It is such a pain to install a power supply in the first place, I don't see anyone ever removing that to clean the dust filter.. so I removed the dust filter and am considering taping it to the outside of the chassis. That way when the power supply pulls in cool air from outside the case, maybe the dust filter (on the outside) will help filter a bit and keep some dust out.

Still waiting for a few more parts to arrive (motherboard, RAM, power supply) but believe all should arrive in time for this weekend. At that point I'll know if there are other issues, but I don't think there will be more surprises unless there is an issue with the case (like power button not working or something odd like that). My advice for folks considering Cooler Master cases is to carefully review the specifications so you know exactly what you are getting. Happy building! Wink

I bought this case back in 2014, bundled with an R9 290 lol Had it sitting on the shelf for years, until I decided to build a pfSense box. Nice little case, fell in love with it over time. Still, I think given the features, or lack thereof, it's $10 overpriced for this thing to even be considered a SD.

The Intel platform is better for HTPCs due to better software optimization/compatibility with Intel's iGPU. While it is weaker on paper than AMD's integrated Vega solution, it is far superior in real world scenarios (QuickSync support, hardware decoding, etc).

I had major audio issues with AMD's audio driver over HDMI, and this is coming from someone who never has such issues. I kept having to disable it in Device Manager and use Microsoft's Basic Driver. I would rather grab a cheap 11600K or 12400, even if it means paying a bit more overall.
