Strongly considering buying one of these. I bought the XWT08Z back in March and it's monstrously big -- way more than I need. With free returns, I could at least compare them side by side and either return this one or sell the other. Good find!

How is this compared to latest dewalt impact driver

https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-2...-10451-_-0
Different tools for different purposes. The linked item is an impact DRIVER (1/4-inch hex socket) generally used for driving screws and fasteners. This is an impact WRENCH (1/2" square drive) for loosening and fastening nuts etc.

I have the XWT11Z which is the older version of this one with less power. It is very compact, not much bigger than the Makita brushed impact driver. I bought it mainly to work on cars (remove tires, changing rotors etc. Even with its compact size and low torque rating, to my surprise, I was able to remove the anode rod from my water heater. As a diy, I don't have anything that requires higher torque than changing out the anode rod. I think most likely, you will return the XWT08Z after you hold this one in your hand. No doubt the XWT08Z is big and powerful. But the biggest drawback is being able to fit in tight spaces. It is kind of like people buying a 12v set when they already owned an18v set.

430 ft/lbs of removal torque is not a monster, especially for the tool only at $137.
Get off your high horse.
For most people buying a $130 torque wrench this is better then what they'd normally get especially at that price. Perfect for a DIYer or someone who doesn't have one.
If you want a better one go buy a bigger one. 🙄

I did as a matter of fact. Got a Ridgid 18V brushless with two 4.0Ah batteries for $149 about 2 years ago. You can find it for $149 with one battery when it goes on sale. Has about 630 ft/lbs of removal torque.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I have the 14Z which is the same tool but with a friction ring anvil and I'll tell you from first hand experience that this thing struggles to get lug nuts off, at least the type that are integral with the bolt. Maybe plain nuts that just spin off the peg are easier work. Last time I took all my wheels off, I'd say of the 20 lug nuts which were tightened to 88ftlb, one or two needed a breaker bar but I really had to let it hammer and hammer on some and am looking to get one of the more powerful Makita impacts.

Gonna have to jump in here. The cheap Ryobi Torque wrench that has been <$60 on DT0 is close to capable of these specs. The Ridgid high torque that was on clearance recently destroys this. If you run Makita this is a great deal, but let's not act like this is the most capable unit at the best price point.

Do you live in the north with salted roads? I have used a 180 ft/lb rated 18v wrench to remove bolts torqued to 120 ft/lb without issue. Not sure why you would need a broker bar to remove <100 lb/ft lugs unless rusted.
