FYI....

The 2022 model has no upgrade in the Roku box itself. The only upgrade is in the remote. Wow, that's disappointing...

I don't believe any of the 3rd party Ethernet adapters work on the Roku stick. So the biggest advantages of the ultra over the stick are the hardwired network connection as well as the ability to play local files off a usb drive. I own 5 Roku's - two series 3, and 2017 stick, a TCL TV and a 2021 Ultra. They all work pretty much the same, except the ultra is quicker/more responsive. Also the TV has a line of sight remote which I hate.

I'm curious what's the advantage of having these over the respective 'stick' / 'Dongle' counterparts? At least with Fire TV cube, that device doubles up as a voice assistant, has IR blaster control etc.

Roku 4k stick, Fire TV 4K Max, Google Chromecast TV 4K all sell for around $40 mark. Even if you need wired LAN or USB support, there are adapters that help you accomplish the same with a stick.

I'm not downplaying this deal, but as a Stick user, would like to know what I'm missing out.

I actually have both the Stick and the Full Size Roku. The Full Size Roku is slightly faster and more responsive than the Stick. The Full Size Roku also always you to insert a memory card to expand the memory.

It depends on generation, but right now (Ultra 4800/4802 vs Streaming Stick 4K+ 3821), it's ethernet, Dolby Atmos audio, more memory, and USB storage

You can replace the IR remote from a RokuTV with RF remotes. You can confirm that for yours specifically if you log in to the Roku store accessories page [roku.com].

Wait 'til BF. I mean if you can. But from what I remember last BF wasn't the lowest they usually go. I always expect this at $50. At least that's my buy point.
Yeah they didn't go to $60 last year so I can't get on board with waiting 6 months for a deal that might not happen

The difference, specifically, from CNET:

"In typical Roku fashion, it largely keeps the same look and feel of the company's other remotes, but the $30 accessory has some big under-the-hood improvements -- most notably a mid-field mic for voice control and a rechargeable battery. Both of these features are great additions on paper. The new mic enables the ability to simply say "Hey Roku, find my remote" to make the clicker beep from wherever it is -- a game-changer for those who are constantly scouring the couch cushions. Roku remotes can chew through batteries quickly, and the ability to recharge instead means you no longer need to keep a stash of AAs on hand. And Roku's other extras, namely the headphone jack for private listening and the programmable shortcut keys, are as welcome as ever."

Still no backlit keys. Boo. Should have added that with the rechargeable batteries.

Also, Micro USB charging port?!! Just wrong in 2022.

The remote from my 4800R Roku Ultra (2020) recently died. It was the old Voice Remote "Pro" with the same configuration as the new Pro remote but using removeable batteries.

In looking to purchase a replacement remote, I have read a lot of reports of the newer 2022 Voice Remote Pro not working after a few months. (Rechargeable battery not keeping charge, won't charge, etc). I cannot speak from experience, so just do your own research.
