The 12 person one for $239 has been that price for a good while now. (I've been price watching it.)

Oooh, okay, wasn't aware... thought it may have been included in this recent mark-down with the others. Thanks for letting us know! Smilie

Is this a good price for any of the 12-person one?

Anyone think the 9 person instant tent with screen room is a decent price? Looking for one with a screen room

This tent design looks really awesome. I'm between this and the regular 8 person cabin tent.

For a 4-person family with light-weight camping trip, which one is the best choice?

You may want to provide more information - what do you plan on bringing with you (sleeping bag, air mattresses, cots, stoves, clothes, food, etc.)?

Of the four people, how tall is everyone? Will you be hiking to your campsite, or will you drive up in your car?

If you're just driving up to the campsite, I suggest going as big as you can. However, I am an absolute camping newbie, so my opinions may be 100% wrong.

I recently went camping with my eight-year old, and we had this [walmart.com] six-person Ozark Trail tent that is currently on sale for $79. The six person tent was very comfortable for two people, even with a few bags of gear that we brought with us.

However, our two other kids want to go on future camping trips, and I am now contemplating getting this [walmart.com] eight-person Ozark Trail tent that is currently on sale for $99. This is because, while a six-person tent should, in theory, fit 1 adult and 3 children ages 8 and under, I believe space will be tight once we account for all the gear we have to bring with us.

Thank you JOL. I was thinking of driving up to the campsite with a 10-year-old and 4-year-old. Just place the order for the 8 person option. Will see how it goes. Smilie

Enjoy! It was our first time camping (it was for my son's cub scout pack), and my son enjoyed it so much that he could not stop talking about it to his sisters. Now the girls want to go too (although my wife is adamant that she will not be joining us).

Of course, it's easy to enjoy camping when you're not the one doing the work - pitching the tent, cooking the food and cleaning up, etc.

laugh out loud Thus why I decided I'd try one of these "instant" tents... Hoping they are as easy and quick to put up as they seem to be Smilie

Great call. Before we bought our instant tent, I tried setting up a tent that was lent to us. 45 minutes after trying to set it up on my own, I gave up and ordered an instant tent. Took me less than 5 minutes to set up, and breaking down the tent was equally straightforward and quick.

Do not buy 4 person tent for 4 people. You won't have space to put bags, etc inside the tent. We have 4 person tent for 2 people (husband and me) and 6 person tent for 3 sons (2 adults and one teenager). We used the 6 person tent for family of 5 when the kids were younger. I would get 6 person tent or 8 person tent for family of 4, depending on kids' ages.

We just came home from camping trip today. We bought cots for everyone to use on this trip. We could only fit 2 cots (low cots) inside our 2 person tent while we could probably fit 5 cots inside our 6 person tent (but then, there won't be any room to stand, according to my son).

Also, you want to consider the height of the tent. Our 2 person tent is low to ground and we can not stand to change clothes, but our 6 person tent is high enough that my 5'10" son can stand inside the tent. It's nice to have more room inside the tent.

FYI. That 9 person tent is now $140. I would say it is officially a great deal now. Not sure why this thread is marked as expired.

It went back to normal price a few days ago. Good to know. Think I'm going to hold out for another season. I have an 11 person tent that's not cabin or instant. It works great for me, my wife and my 6yo. The screened room was a bonus. I ended up just ordering a 10x10 screen tent for $79.99 for my car camping trip this weekend. But yeah that 9 person instant cabin tent does seem like a deal with the screened room!
