Not knocking your experience, just so that people have a different consensus - totally disagree with you. My gf and I played through and had SO MUCH fun. The variety was unbelievable, it went on way longer than I ever expected, and the story was so interesting in that it tackled something outside the realm of what it needed to do.
I will say there's one part of the game that comes out of nowhere that's bizarrely uncomfortable in contrast with the rest of the game. We decided to stop playing for the day because it was too much. I guess it's trying to make a point, but i wish there was an option to bypass it..
Any other recs for co op games anyone?

Additionally, the idea that there's any one "Game of the Year" award is a stretch. There are thousands of publications and organizations that each pick their own. In recent years a trust fund kid named Geoff has been pouring money into advertising his pick as some sort of official industry consensus, but advertising dollars doesn't make it so.
As for other couch co-op games, there are a ton from Nintendo: Luigi's Mansion 3, Pikmin 3, Animal Crossing, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart/sports games, etc. Among non-Nintendo games, there's Overcooked, Diablo 3, Streets of Rage 4, Unraveled, and some sports games.

What part was that? I can't remember.
All Gears of War
There was one part that was oddly gruesome. Not sure if that's what he was referring to but, one part had a gruesome scene with eye sockets. I did not understand why that was put in the game. I like violent video games but it felt out of place for me.

The greatest co op of all time is castle crashers.
