My bill is almost zero and i dont want to put it in negative by paying off early.
But i do want to jump on this deal.
P.S. I have 4 lines with 3 credits on each of them already.. This deal will make it 4 on one of the lines!
At this rate - Tmobile is basically paying me to have an account with them.

To get back to your original question, if I wanted to jump on a promo deal, I only paid off the EIP on the line that I was going to apply the new promo to. I pay for 4 lines and 2 lines for free. So I've got a couple of lines to "play" with. I don't see a problem with going into negative bill territory. The credit will just pile up on your account until your monthly credit promos expire and they'll start deducting from the built up "reserve."
It is easy to fall into the mental trap of thinking "they're paying me to stay"... just be realistic and frame it in a way "I've prepaid for T-mo service, and it trickles back in small increments over 2 years." Make no mistake, this "monthly credit" scheme is the new "free with 2 year contract" of yesteryear. I'm not trying to lecture you, just stating to obvious, as I have to remind myself from time to time...

Totally hear you. The reason I am convinced that TMO is paying me to stay is because just last year I got 7 new phones for essentially free. 4 of those were free Velvet 5G which I didn't want and sold for $900 total. That $900 itself pays for my SC bills for a 2022. And that's just 1 EIP on each of the line. I have total 12 EIPs.
Next, there are 3 ip12s. Although I didn't sell them, I would have anyways bought them new elsewhere so its money saved. I bought 3 ip7s from ebay (for $100 each) and traded them in for 3 free ip12s which we use. So call it $1500 savings there.
2 more were ip12 minis which were not free (since I had to buy ip8s or something to trade in). But I sold them and will net me $350 each over the period of the credits. So $700 savings over 2 years.
So ^ is 9 phones and I have 3 more legacy EIP credits (2020 SE deals giving me $430 worth credits over 30 months for trading in random old phones).. sold them for 350 each so actual cash inflow was $1050 over 2.5 years.
So that's my total 12 EIPs on 4 lines. $900+$1500+$700+$1050 in value over 3 years. More than what my bills cost.
I am 100% convinced, net-net I haven't paid anything $ to TMO over the past 3 years.
So all in all, yes they are paying me to stay on with them.

This is how I've been doing it with mine and I've continued to receive bill credits. My bill is ~$20 for 8 voice lines.
So again, we don't know what causing some losing the credits and some not.
1. Login into your account
2. Goto shop
3. Choose iPhone SE (if it gives a popup, select add a new line/device option and not the upgrade device option
4. Follow through the steps. ( if you already have a phone with tmobile on that line, just select your phone line and instead if replace your current device select trade if a different device)
5. Sign EIP, review order and done.
6. Once you get the device you can then ship your trade in device.
Hope this helps.
Your account does not currently qualify for this promo. This promo requires a preselection alert that you do not have. The preselection occurred on 6/9 and we hope to see further preselection on a weekly basis. You had to be using your trade in device on one of your lines on 6/9 to be preselected. Keep using the 3G on XXXX and you should get that preselection memo in the coming weeks"
I will keep the 3G on the line to see if they actually do make more folks eligible....
Assist fee was $35 plus another $30 in taxes, all payable immediately. There was free 2-day shipping for the SE3 that I ordered.
I was going to protest the assist fee but did not want the rep to find a reason to search my account and kill the deal. I will chat later once the phone is delivered to get that fee credited, so no big deal.
I asked the rep to send me an email or text confirming that he signed me up for P038. He said he could not, but confirmed that he typed in my account notes that this transaction today was specifically for the $430 P038 promo. Fingers crossed, hoping T-Mobile does not F this up when I see my account in 2 billing cycles.
Great deal if it all falls into place as planned. Thanks OP.
Im on t-mobile and want to activate new line for a family member, but I want to maximize savings.
What is the best way to do it right now?
T-mobile deal now: Pixel 6 for $99(Via 24 monthly bill credits when you add a line on a qualifying plan)
I already have extra phone, therefore once I get pixel 6 I plan to sell it for around 400(I dont have to keep it to get credits - right?)
or is there a better options?

So my dad uses an iPhone 5S on one of my Simple Choice plan lines. I got the targeted emails, but only was eligible for the 24mo bill credit for the OnePlus Nord. I contacted T-Force and said I read about other customers getting iPhone offers and they offered $216 off an iPhone because that's the cost of the Nord. But I pushed a little bit harder and even said it was a little bait & switch because the emails offering a free phone were a picture of an iPhone and not an android.
After a few minutes they said since I've been with T-Mobile so many years they'll go ahead and do the iPhone SE3 for me. Paid for the device tax and got the trade-in started. They said it will say $0 trade-in value and then go ahead and manually credit my account after the trade-in is received.
