Your account does not currently qualify for this promo. This promo requires a preselection alert that you do not have. The preselection occurred on 6/9 and we hope to see further preselection on a weekly basis. You had to be using your trade in device on one of your lines on 6/9 to be preselected. Keep using the 3G on XXXX and you should get that preselection memo in the coming weeks"
I will keep the 3G on the line to see if they actually do make more folks eligible....
After calling 611 and finally finding a rep to do the P038 deal and place the order, I still felt uneasy about having nothing in writing to support my purchase per this promo. So I decided to chat in the app to generate some kind of written record.
I used the excuse that I was "requesting my order number and the EIP agreement specifically tied to the iPhone SE 3 that I just purchased per the P038 promo in which I will be trading in my currently active iPhone 4 for $430 in credits." I asked the chat rep to email it to me.
She provided my order number in the chat, and then sent the EIP agreement via email, acknowledging via chat that it was for the order using the P038 promo that the call rep had referenced in my account.
I took screenshots on my phone of the chat.
I feel much better now having at least some documentation to later reference if T-Mobile screws this up, rather than just having a verbal defense that a "T-Mobile call-rep said I was eligible for this promo during a 611 call."

But if I recall correctly from past experience, I think the eip agreements that I have signed previously never had the promotional credits listed in those documents.
The actual credits would automatically show up in my account two bill cycles later along with the name of the associated promo.

Maybe it just means that the trade-in offer was accepted as far as it being an eligible device for this promo. So perhaps has nothing to do with the actual trade-in device being approved and accepted. I am just guessing, I don't really know.
I did get a text stating that "A quote of $0 was accepted for your Apple iPhone 4 with serial number xxxxxxxx. Please return your trade-in device to a retail store or send within 30 days..."
