YMMV.as it appears to be targeted to users with a 3G device currently active on a line

I rebooted and removed sim, waited two days and tried again. Same. Keeps showing iPhone 6S and I doubled checked the IMEI.
Can go into store and prove to them it's a 5S?
BTW, putting your sim in the 5s will not trigger the deal on your account automatically anyway if it is not already targeted in the T-Mobile system.
If your account is not targeted, you would have to try the call-in route. You would have to find a call-rep who is willing to process the order under the p038 promo, then jump through the hoops to have the promo post correctly to your account after the new iPhone is delivered.

The phone is AT&T. I assume it is locked. I looked through the condition and it didn't say anything that it needs to be activated (actual terms same as posted by OP, not SD FP post). Should I bother putting my SIM in the phone since it is likely carrier locked?
I am thinking of getting the iPhone 11 instead of SE because of the bigger screen (paying $3 extra per month). I have NEVER owned an iPhone before. I am not familiar with iPhone in general. Is that a right decision?

If your account is not targeted for the promo, you will have to try the call-in route, which means finding a call-rep willing to process the order manually using the p038 promo, and providing the rep with the IMEI of the 3g iPhone. You would then need to jump through the hoops with T-Force to have the promo post correctly to your account after the new iPhone is delivered. YMMV as how smoothly that will go.
As for the 11, it has a bigger screen and battery, and may hold better trade value, but is pretty much worse or same for everything else, compared to the SE3. So buy whatever you prefer. I chose the SE3 since I wanted a small iPhone that fits in my pocket when working out using my Apple Watch.

CRS kept on saying it's for the retired member only.
Is anyone having a similar conversation today?
I suppose the iPhone 11 camera is better too?

In past deals, it usually took a week or two typically.
Interesting that yours has not even been delivered, but they already sent you the approval texts.
Probably 10 -12 days since ship date to final approval.
If you have another line that has no EIP attached, insert that sim on your 5s and try again.
I am just hoping that Tmobile keeps on checking eligible line for this promo and send eligibility email or after July 1, they run another similar promo.
Good luck.
Still haven't taken this offer yet as I don't have any old iPhone to trade in. Local sales market for such old iphones are pretty dry in my area. Might have to do ebay if I do decide to do this deal

Also on a different topic, can I give the new phone (after activation) to a family member? I don't really need to upgrade my device yet. Asking because the new phone is "supposed" to activated on my line.

I am on the phone again to figure out what went wrong. Just be sure to double-check and have the agent add notes into your account that you are eligible for the promo.
