I just order one.
Order online myself without any issues
But I see that the promo is still available on my account. Turns out I can use any of my lines for this promo. Don't have any more old iPhone to trade in though.

I had a t-mobile rep assist with this offer because my iphone 5 was showing as 64GB on the site, however it's actually 16GB despite having the accurate serial number. I'm confused as to whether the deal will work though because I received a text message that I accepted a trade in offer of $0. does this mean I will still get the $17.92 credit per month?

Similar situation here, not targeted, my 4S shown in their system with less memory, and the CSR on the call said trade-in value is $0 but she assured me I'll be getting the credit. She confirmed P038 is applied, 2022 UMTS Apple Upgrade P1 is applied, and everything seems to check out. Will see how it turns out. Just received and activated my new phone today.

What else do I need to do after new phone is delivered?

Also on a different topic, can I give the new phone (after activation) to a family member? I don't really need to upgrade my device yet. Asking because the new phone is "supposed" to be activated on my line.

Don't worry about it. As long as the IMEI matches, that is all that matters. My devices often show up as the wrong variant, color, "Device Unkown," etc.

BTW, putting your sim in the 5s will not trigger the deal on your account automatically anyway if it is not already targeted in the T-Mobile system.

If your account is not targeted, you would have to try the call-in route. You would have to find a call-rep who is willing to process the order under the p038 promo, then jump through the hoops to have the promo post correctly to your account after the new iPhone is delivered.

Heads-Up - I went thru the call-in route, the Agent confirmed that I am eligible for the promo and he was able to process the order. However now, I see a charge on my bill for adding a new handset device.

I am on the phone again to figure out what went wrong. Just be sure to double-check and have the agent add notes into your account that you are eligible for the promo.
You had to ask them to waive the fees... assistance fees, shipping and adding a new line of applicable...

watch your account after the new phones is delivered to make sure the P1 promo posts correctly. If it does not, contact T-Force and jump through the hoops. Don't forget to mail in your old 4s.

Technically you can give the new phone to someone, but it is locked to T-Mobile, so they would have to be using T-Mobile service too. Unlocking requires 40 day wait and paid off in full per T-Mobile policy.

That being said, I would NOT do any of the above immediately. Leave the new phone active on your line that you used to do the promo. Wait two bill cycles before paying it off or giving it away for someone else to use on a different line or different account. Make sure the P1 promo shows up correctly, bills correctly, and sticks on your account for at least two billing cycles.

If that all works correctly, you're in the clear, and then do whatever you want with the phone. It will still receive monthly bill credits even if you pay it off, unlock it, and give it away.

OP here. I finally received my replacement SE3. I wanted to wait until my trade in was approved so I looked through my collection of older iPhones (6, 6s) to use in the interim period (my collection includes old 3GS that would not activate). However, I found another 5s I had forgotten about. I put in one of my line SIMS and it showed up as available for trade-in (Remember, I was targeted originally).

Good luck everyone, This offer should end in a couple of days. I wonder what T-mobile is going to do with users who do not upgrade.

Contacted Support via Facebook chat and got this as an answer: "Thanks so much for your patience, I do see here that you don't qualify due to the fact that there were no qualifying devices in use before the promo rolled out and the accounts were pre-selected."

Looks like you are only getting $100. I don't think 5s qualifies. double checked the op and looks like 5s is there. so most likely you are not targeted for the offer. you should get $430 credit

It should have said somewhere that the trade in was $100 and you were to get $330 over 24 months

Has anyone who requested this promo w/o originally being targeted (notified by text or had offer appear in their account) actually received confirmation that they were enrolled in the "2022 UMTS Apple Upgrade P1" Promotion?

I took the plunge today - fingers crossed that Promotion (P038) gets applied correctly, even though I wasn't originally notified via text or could find an official "offer" on my account at T-Mobile's website. I've had a qualifying iPhone 5 on my one of my T-Mobile lines for over a week now, but that didn't trigger any notification from T-Mobile. I used "chat" feature of the T-Mobile App to request assistance with ordering an iPhone using Promo P038. The agent took some time to research the promo, asked me to send screen shots of the promo and asked me to verify details of my trade-in iPhone. Then the agent responded - "Thank you - You are qualified for this promotion. Let me go ahead and process this trade-in."

I think if the qualifying iPhones all have $0 trade-in value when traded-in against Promotion P038. The $100 trade-in value might be an indicator that the more typical "T833" promotion is being used instead. If published trade-in value is "up to $400" then you might be trading in the iPhone using Promo T833 whereas Promo P038 should offer "up to $430" credit.
