I am not Elite but seeing the $202.49 price. Nice, that is a great price for the largest gradient strip. Hoping the make a version 2 of the sync box before I personally dive in on this. TU and repped OP.

This one is installed behind a TV and, normally, used in conjunction with the Hue HDMI Sync Box. It counts as 1 light in an Entertainment Area on setup. The Sync Box knows that it's a Play Gradient Light Strip so it will show 3 different zones at the top of the screen and 2 different zones on the sides of the screen, so it's able to show off more colors at once. Whereas a regular light strip can only produce one color along the entire length of the strip. The Gradient light strip can offer multiple colors on the same strip, but it's a different product from the Play Gradient Light Strip, which is what this is.

This pulls the color from HDMI. Honestly, I've seen some cheaper setups that use a camera pointed at your TV and produce the same effect. I've already invested so much in Hue and don't feel like doing DIY setups.

You need the sync box to actually use this to sync with the tv or it's just a regular strip?

Is the regular gradient strip better than this one for a TV since it can do multiple colors?

It would be more cost effective to buy this one because it covers both the top and the sides of the TV. The regular Gradient Light Strip when added into an Entertainment Area would need to be assigned a side of the TV, so 3 would be required to get the same effect as 1 Play Grab Light Strip. You would probably want to get either Play Bars or the regular Gradient Light Strip for the bottom of the screen, since the Play Gradient Light Strip is not designed to cover the bottom of the screen.

How many actual different colors per section(say side and top) does this do? I now have a sync setup with one regular strip on sides and top respectively.
Wondering how much better this will make the setup.

What would a v2 improve on? I'm looking to pull the trigger now but I'm happy to wait for a significant tech bump.
