Powerful processor and solid build quality. Screen is really good too, 300-nits 100% sRGB anti-glare, which is hard to get at this price point. Really good port selection. Great battery life. Faster 8GB LPDDR4x, sadly soldered.

Otherwise, ZenBook series has been excellent mostly. Still rocking a 5yr old ZenBook (7th Gen i7 with 940MX 2GB, 512/16). Awesome build quality and durability. Glad they give regular HDMI instead of the micro that I have in mine. Highly recommend.
As you mentioned, too bad, memory is capped at 8GB. I wish they have a 16GB / 256GB so we can upgrade the SSD later if necessary, for a slightly higher price. However, with dedicated graphics memory, 8GB hopefully should be sufficient for Win 10/11.
Stay away from Gateway - my advice. It is not the same Gateway from the '90s. Some other company (Acer? someone help me out here) bought the name and another Chinese company makes these laptops for them under the Gateway name.
- Terrible keyboard, very uncomfortable; touchpad sometimes doesn't work/register taps. Big issue since these are the most used parts other than the screen!
- Very dim screen.. and when you turn up the brightness the colors look washed out. It is not a nice panel.
- Pathetic speakers. "Tuned by THX"? Definitely not the same THX George Lucas founded. This must be Terrible Horrible Xperience instead. Tinny, don't get loud enough, horrible sound quality.
- Flimsy construction; laptop has way too much flex in it; does not feel well built
- Bad battery life. Lasts maybe 4hr on a full charge.
- HEAVY!!! It feels like it weighs 6lb.
- Huge square charger.
Positives:Based on my experience, the negatives far outweigh the positives. It may be a good laptop for a child or someone who isn't picky, but everyone else would probably grow tired of this pretty soon. I recently dual-booted this so it can run Ubuntu instead, just to see what else it could do. The laptop uses standard components so Ubuntu installed with no issues. However.. knowing what I know now.. I would not buy this laptop again. You have been warned.

This laptop also runs extremely hot under load. Definitely beyond the point where it stops being comfortable, even to type on.

Pros:
->Good keyboard
->Well spaced keys
->Can open with one hand (I know its something of a fetish for some people but i dont mind using 2 hands)
->Ok performance
-> No screen wobbling
Cons
->Exceptionally terrible camera (don't even bother with windows hello here)
->Hinge is on the softer side so if you press slightly, it would recline but not screen wobbling as I mentioned above
->Very bad brightness levels. You can barely see the screen in a well lit office environment
I was planning to keep it but the last point above is deal breaker. This has matte screen and still barely visible in well lit conditions. Really sad b/c otherwise, I really liked it
