I own 3 TCL televisions. I bought a 55" 4 series in 2017, a 65" 6 series in 2019, and another 55" 4 series 5 months ago. All three work great. For the money, you won't find a better 4K HD television.

You can say that to every single brand out there if you only buy the lowest tier tv. Samsung LG Vizio Hisense Sony you name it.

Bought this around the same price on Christmas and has been working flawlessly. Biggest surprise is how decent the speaker sounds since most budget 4k TVs have awful speakers.

My 65" TCL was crap. Buggy and sluggish. Stay with premium brand, LG, Samsung, or Sony.

What series did you get? There is a big difference in performance as you move up. For $800 you won't find a 65" LG, Samsung, or Sony with 4K UHD, Dolby Vision, and a good OS.

i have a tcl tv from a previous deal... it has a 4:4:4 chroma ratio which allowed me to use it as a monitor for a long time, great for photo editing! Big Grin
This. I think I've got the 43" version 6 months into the pandemic have been using it 40+ hours a week since. Very nice.

It's good as a bedroom TV. Blacks aren't that deep but vibrant mode looks good. I have mine directly go to a Fire stick 4K on power on and bypass Roku. Be advised that this TV phones home every movie that you watch from any source.

What do you mean it phones home, it sends data back to wherever about what you watch? What if you cast a screen to it?

Have had this tv for a couple of years now, works perfectly. Decent picture and sound, the roku interface is great, our remote always goes missing so nice to control it with the phone app. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a budget tv.

I have the 55S423, a 2018 model and not the same, for example mine has 3 HDMI inputs and this one has four. I'm generally happy with it especially for the price. Mine will not do HDR at 4K, a fact I discovered while setting up my PS5 with it. Anyone know if this 55S431 will take HDR with 4K?

Yes, look into it but it possibly screenshots everything.

Might have just been that one TV. I have a 65" 4-series TCL, fantastic TV. It's been used multiple times a day, every day, both 4k viewing and gaming (PS4 & PS5, some PC games) for years and it's still going strong.
