Great card, just make sure to use the points for air travel on their site, not other things.

How much is 100k points worth in $ and best way to use these points .I will not be using uber, remote work..
does this card comes with free tsa pre or global entry..
Work remote and no use for Uber? Don't get either card. Waste of the annual fee and you'll struggle to find use for the other benefits and points.

Cancel on the 366th day.
That is actually kinda what ypu should do, you pay the annual fee and after that you cancel the card, they will reimburse you the fee but will not claw back the points.

Not true, Once 12 months has passed, you have 30 days after your fee posts to cancel.
Not true that they charge the $250 up front?

Or not true it doesn't matter since you can get your second annual fee waived if you cancel at day 366?

The latter. Meaning upon your renewal fee hitting , you still have 30 days to cancel and get a refund, and not affect your points

But you don't get your first year fee back. They won't charge the second year fee if you cancel after first year. But your obligation to AMEX is over at that point.

Correct. Yes you cannot get your first years fee back, but I think the SUB and the benefits of the card easily outweigh the annual fee. Once again Cards with (high) annual fees are not for everyone. Its a game , and you got to be in it to win it. As many here will attest, there are some amazing values that can be had

Can you give an example please?

Sure- we're flying Singapore air business class from NYC to Germany, roundtrip, for 144k miles.

Amex offers 20% transfer bonuses for this airline moderately often, so that'd be 120k points...which you'd earn if you spent 5k total on the 4x categories (restaurants and groceries) to get the SUB.

The cash price of that ticket runs about $4000 (varies a bit by date but roughly 4k)

So you're getting about 3.3 cents per point.

If you wanted to fly first class the value is even higher- that's about a $15,000 ticket and would run you about 144k amex points plus the 20% bonus, so a massive 10.4 cents per point.

(disclaimer: the points cost for singapore air specifically went up about 10% since we booked the above-- but it still offers massively higher value than, say, paying off a statement credit or something- and there's tons of other great values in airline transfers with these points out there)

Yes but 120$ in Uber and 120$ in dining credit compensates for it . Of course this is not for everyone but 100k points is very valuable
Wrong post lol
