Most people really don't need these kinds of supplements on a keto diet. Especially at this price.
Avoid processed foods (including foods that claim they're keto-friendly - they're often not, plus you lose a lot of nutrients in the processing). Take a multivitamin daily. Use salt (if you're in nutritional ketosis, your kidneys are more efficient at clearing out salt; Steven Phinney at virta health has a video discussing this on youtube). No-salt has potassium if you think that's needed. Look at the r/keto space on reddit - they have FAQs and a page for people starting on keto - discussing nutritional needs and what to watch for at the beginning as your body adjusts (hint: in the first couple weeks, don't cut your calories dramatically - just focus on eating keto friend (unprocessed) foods). Work toward intermittent fasting - going 16-18-20 hours without eating.

Once you're in nutritional ketosis (when you're body has shifted more toward burning fat, rather than glucose for fuel), your hunger & cravings largely go away until after you've gone 12-15 hours without food (you can have liquids, and even small amounts of heavy cream with tea, coffee in that time - just avoid protein and carbs). Research has shown that being in nutritional ketosis shifts levels of certain hormones (like ghrelin, CCK) towards appetite suppression rather than hunger, which also helps decrease hunger. Avoiding all but the low end of the spectrum on foods with carbs helps reduce spikes in blood sugar, which causes cravings that people usually interpret as hunger, and the subsequent spike in insulin which works to store the excess glucose in the blood as fat (which then reduces blood sugar levels, which makes people want to eat again). See some of Gary Taubes's books on keto diets.

Not sure how this is branded as an electrolyte powder, it barely has any electrolytes. 5% potassium and sodium per serving. Even magnesium is only 25%.

I've done extended fasting (week+) and if youre serious about needing electrolytes, buy them individually as in magnesium pills, iodized salt and potassium salt or pills ( I like the salt better). It is A LOT cheaper, easier and probably won't bother your stomach as much as this stuff.

Not a powder but these pills are the best I've found, you can easily swallow a couple with water. I keep a few capsules of them in all my outdoor bags.

Out of shape middle aged dude here.... I've been using this brand since the beginning of covid for two different things:

1. To drink while I do peloton workouts
2. To help with hangovers

It does a great job with both. I'm sure someone will come in this thread and tell me that scientifically it's not doing anything and that it's all placebo to which I'll respond: "I don't care".

Seriously it tastes great and helps me get water intake in the two moments I need it most so as long as that's true I'll keep buying it.

This wont work as a "recovery drink." Electrolytes are what are depleted AS you workout and sweat. Caffeine is helpful prior to the workout, and pointless thereafter. This would work BEFORE the workout. Afterwards you needs BCAAs -- Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine, to heal muscles and reduce subsequent soreness.

Be a little fat or a lot. But be happy! We evolved to be able to do Ketosis as an option if we are going through extreme conditions so that your liver would convert your fat and next your protein to sugar so your most important organ, your brain, would get its ONLY source of food, which is sugar, even if you lose all ur fat and muscle mass ur still alive bcoz ur brain is working. Same way that stress hormones were to save your life if SaberTooth was after you to eat you, but now we use the same mechanism 8 times a day, Ketosis is a last resort option for your liver to break fat and protein through a smelly stinky process that will make your breath smell horrible to save your life. At the very least take the drops and cheat mothernature into thinking your starved to death and dont sctually do what is needed to induce ketosis. Do not listen to social media fads. It is a super taxing process esp on ur liver and kidneys.

Please do not thumbs down just because you like to be an angry slender person. Let that one person straddling the fence not go on this diet after reading my post.

Seems to have healthier forms of electrolytes. I think its citrates vs chlorides which you could only get from bulk supplements. Not an expert but supplementing potassium is tricky and no-salt makes me feel gross. Edit: Yeah it's forms of potassium are probably better for you compared to no-salt but I could be completely wrong.

Sounds legit for both 😄 If you're working out, you lose salts in your sweat that need to be replaced.
Alcohol is a diuretic so you're losing water via your pee which causes an electrolyte imbalance. Glad you found something that works!!

Unfortunately, the information is incorrect. You typically do not get the electrolytes you need on a keto diet. There are much cheaper methods of buying mag, potassium, and other electrolytes separately.

It is true, you do not need THIS particular solution, but you probably should supplement electrolytes if you are on keto or if you drink the recommended 64oz of water per day. That much water flushes your kidneys of sodium and other needed electrolytes.

Sorry, but the previous poster was 100% wrong.
Many people who follow a keto diet disagree with you. For example,
https://www.reddit.com/r/keto/wik...ficient.3F
How do I replenish electrolytes when I am deficient?
Sodium, potassium, and magnesium all occur naturally in foods, and the majority of people will have no issues attaining their essential electrolyte levels by simply eating a Ketogenic Diet.

If you find yourself needing to replenish your electrolytes, try the following supplementation guidelines for sodium / potassium / magnesium given by Lyle McDonald as:

5000 mg of sodium
1000 mg of potassium
300 mg of magnesium
You can track the intake of these minerals with a tool such as myfitnesspal.com.

Here are some good ways to reach your electrolyte goals:

Sodium: Cured Meats (300-500mg/oz), Cheeses (200-300mg/oz), Canned Tuna (300-400mg/can), Mustard, Creamy Salad Dressings, broth, table salt
Potassium: Raw spinach, Avocado, Mushrooms, Salmon, Steak, Pork loin, Lite Salt (290mg sodium and 350mg potassium per 1/4 tsp)
Magnesium: Raw spinach, Avocado, Swiss Chard, Sprouts, Seaweed, Coffee, Almonds, Wild Fish, supplements
A quick note on magnesium supplements: if you choose to take a non food-based magnesium supplement, make sure the compound ends in -ate (citrate, glycinate, etc.). Avoid magnesium oxide as it is the least bioavailable form of magnesium.

People with kidney failure, heart failure, diabetes, or those on prescribed medication should not use salt substitutes without first consulting a qualified medical professional..

Honestly I have no care about the actual topic being discussed but if you think "here is a person on reddit's opinion that conflicts with yours therefore you are wrong" counts as a counterpoint...you've completely misunderstood the internet.

Here are bigfoot sightings on reddit; therefore they must be true:

You are wrong about the human brain when you say glucose is its only energy source. The human brain works perfectly fine on ketones.

Some would argue, the brain works better on ketones.

"It turned out that Ketones are a much better energy source for the brain than Glucose because of their more efficient pathway. When Ketones are used to produce energy using Oxygen, more ATP is produced per molecule with Ketones than with Glucose."

Yeah, keto sounds miserable considering you could just track calories, macro partition and exercise.

I got the strawberry and kiwi flavor last time, use for two long runs, not bad. It just does not disolve very well, need some good shakes, still left some tiny bits, then I just swallowed them with the drink, let my stomach to deal with them.

LMNT

It's pricey, but short list of ingredients, and higher proportions.
