I have the $300 per year plan with 8GB data and I've been on the phone with customer service. They wont change my data to 16GB. I was on the phone with them 35min to argue. I asked for a supervisor and they hung up. I'm not giving up though.

Online, in account summary, it shows "Discount Reward Offer: 8GB and then "Plan Data (includes 0 KB Rollover Data) 8GB" for a total of 16GB. ATT doesn't show it as a total of 16GB, but two separate 8GB (yes, confused me too). See attached pic.
ah yes, my account summary page looks like this as well. I didn't interpret it this way because in the past, ATT actually showed the extra 8GB in the data counter but this time they didn't so that's what concerned me. Maybe I'll test out this month and see what happens when it goes over, if it throttles or something

NOT true, you can start with gift card immediately, i just did, here are the steps:

• Used a "Generated Card" Number from my bank (citibank) when ordering the SIM card.
You can also use a gift card with balance less than $300 - it will bounce the $300+tax and fees charge anyway. NEED TO HAVE ATLEAST $1

• You dont get Charged ANYTHING untill you pop the SIM into the phone.

• Cancelled the "Generated Card" immediately after the order went thru.

• Received the SIM card about a day later in the mail, and put it in the Phone, went online at:
https://www.paygonline.com/websc/loginPage.html
Make a new AT&T prepaid account (Mobile Number is already provided in the envelope slip when you receive your SIM card in the mail)
You will be sent a temporarely PIN to that new AT&T number via SMS.

• After the account is created you will see balance due $300 as you havent been charged for anything yet, and pressung the "Pay Now" button will present you with option to pay with either a Credit/Debit Card or enter a Code from a Prepaid Card..

• Go to Target and buy your prepaid card here:
https://www.target.com/p/prepaid-...A-82498449
Should arrive within 2-4hrs into your email box.
NOTE Target Prepaid Phone Cards offten go on sale for 10% off, so you could get the $300 card for $270 and if you have Red Card aditional 5% off so your total year plan could cost $256.50 which ends up been $21.37 a month 😎

• Activate your plan.

• Optionaly after all that is done, call customer service to port your number and replace the one the SIM card came with.

Attaching a screenshot of the account pending $300 Bill due and Prepaid Card Option below:

I chose keep my number during checkout so I didn't get a new AT&T number. How do I reset my pin and go into AT&T prepaid portal because it doesn't work.

also you bring up a good point, does this mean the most someone could ever have after the first month is 24 GB of total data to use instead of 32? (theoretically because obviously almost everyone's going to use some data during the month)
Yes I believe that is correct most data you could ever have/use in one month is 24GB, 8 carried over and the 8 + 8 given for that month. To put it simply they will not allow you to carryover the extra 8gb of promotional data given as part of this deal.

I've been on the 8GB 300 annual plan for almost 2 full years, need to renew in August and have been extremely happy with it. $22 to $23 a month using gift cards. I could go to First Net but would be double the cost and I do not really need the unlimited data, would be great to be able to get the 16 though.

Okay, thanks for your input on that. It helps to have some feedback on my thinking; and you clarified the situation very well with how you wrote your response (for others).

It certainly seems that's what they are doing with the way these data buckets are structured...and knowing the somewhat customer unfriendly way Verizon & AT&T typically operate... Speaking of which, I agree that it completely sucks that AT&T is making this for new customers only!

But it's cool you're able to jump to Firstnet if needed... but yeah I could see how just keeping this can make sense too, with the optionality always in your back pocket to jump to Firstnet if needed.

Thank you for whatever important first-responder type work you do! Man the past couple years especially haven't been easy for you all. Respect & gratitude! :-)

I have AT&T home internet and Mint Mobile for my phone. My Mint is due to renew today. I used an average of 25gb monthly on my unlimited Mint plan last year. It cost me $360 a year. It looks like Mint is still my best deal. It's worked great so far in my area near Nashville. Am I missing anything here?

Not too sure about the whole picture but with this AT&T plan, you would get priority data and a larger nationwide network... but it doesn't sound like you've really had much of a problem with either of those issues with Mint, so probably not a huge deciding factor.

Google Fi's Simply Unlimited plan beats this out, even with taxes and fees being separate, if you need 4 lines or more(maybe some trustworthy friends who will pay you back without a lot of prodding). Personally will never recommend Visible, as their data deprioritization was horrendous(weekend in Vegas and hardly had any data service, and sadly our hotel internet was actually worse). I will personally only stay on a T-Mobile network ever again, though have considered At&t, just that the price never seemed right, or couldn't find something with lower cost and HS data allotment that would provide throttled data after hitting the cap.

I've used Mint in one of my 3 phones. If you don't travel and you live where T-Mobile has good coverage, you are good. Otherwise, T-Mobile has alot of deadspots where ATT and Verizon works.

Please note if you change the plan before expiration of your term then you lose the remaining balance. Basically you have to stick to this plan for 1 year.

Lots of questions come back from page to page.
This does not give you 5G access, although for att LTE is perfectly fine
Please make sure you have verified where you mostly use your phone make sure you have great att service
att prepaid 300 yearly plan is NON refundable
If you want 5G and more data you might want to consider the online only plan unlimited max with 10gb of hotspot (it's not the unlimited posted online, search acp and unlimited max for details) as low as 34 a month in a group
You cannot port from cricket or att postpaid directly recently confirmed by posts on redddittt
You will need to port out to tmobile for 10 bucks, set up a new line on att prepaid as a new customer prior, and make sure it is in same area code/zip code

any other questions feel free to ask

Again, this is not for everyone! visible is crap for 25 as per many posters on redditt

QCI on this plan is 9, for reference most postpaid plans are 8 or 7, most prepaid are 9 except for att unlimited max prepaid which is 8.

Most people are saying it is QCI 8. Are you sure it is 9?

AT&T customer service (at least the port out team) is the worst. I think I've been on hold / hung up on 5 times now trying to port in a number from Tello. They don't even have "Tello" as part of their dropdown, and Tello is not receiving any requests by them. I've been placed on hold for hours. If they can't figure something out, they just hang up on you. These outsourced teams on all companies are the worst. Outsourced customer service bs from India, Philippines, etc. Since when did we, as consumers, start accepting that this is ok and it is the norm?
CS with any large company will be YMMV. I had a great experience. Also, you shouldn't criticize where a company has their support while being in a discussion about a low cost plan. Customers accepted outsourced as a norm when they started avoiding having to pay a high price for a product or service.
