I have the $300 per year plan with 8GB data and I've been on the phone with customer service. They wont change my data to 16GB. I was on the phone with them 35min to argue. I asked for a supervisor and they hung up. I'm not giving up though.

NOT true, you can start with gift card immediately, i just did, here are the steps:

• Used a "Generated Card" Number from my bank (citibank) when ordering the SIM card.
You can also use a gift card with balance less than $300 - it will bounce the $300+tax and fees charge anyway. NEED TO HAVE ATLEAST $1

• You dont get Charged ANYTHING untill you pop the SIM into the phone.

• Cancelled the "Generated Card" immediately after the order went thru.

• Received the SIM card about a day later in the mail, and put it in the Phone, went online at:
https://www.paygonline.com/websc/loginPage.html
Make a new AT&T prepaid account (Mobile Number is already provided in the envelope slip when you receive your SIM card in the mail)
You will be sent a temporarely PIN to that new AT&T number via SMS.

• After the account is created you will see balance due $300 as you havent been charged for anything yet, and pressung the "Pay Now" button will present you with option to pay with either a Credit/Debit Card or enter a Code from a Prepaid Card..

• Go to Target and buy your prepaid card here:
https://www.target.com/p/prepaid-...A-82498449
Should arrive within 2-4hrs into your email box.
NOTE Target Prepaid Phone Cards offten go on sale for 10% off, so you could get the $300 card for $270 and if you have Red Card aditional 5% off so your total year plan could cost $256.50 which ends up been $21.37 a month 😎

• Activate your plan.

• Optionaly after all that is done, call customer service to port your number and replace the one the SIM card came with.

$25 per month with 16GB data, why wouldn't I choose Visible party? $25 with unlimited data also includes hotspot(not unlimited), no taxes I recalled.

Damn, this scares me. My sim arrives today and I order online with the port-in (old number) information. Do you recommend me just to cancel this order and re-order with a new temp number?
Yes I would.

Unless if you have tried and experienced, don't assume it will work. If you have tried pls share the US provider you used in India. Seen big providers charge for everything. So I have quoted something that works. And when you go there for emergency or planned vacation you will not be toggling between Google voice and your primary number. And with visible I was receiving US calls and was able to call US with my US number with wi-fi calling. And for local calls, used local esim.
When I came back to US, wifi calling ( calling or receiving )needs international roaming plans to be added to Indian SIM otherwise it was restricted to getting only sms ( useful for otp).
For this deal, does ATT prepaid wifi calling work without additional charges in India?
Google FI. I go to India multiple times a year and my wife is a PIO and I travel over 100k a year (at least I did). I have been out of the US 5 times in the last few months what you will realize is that eSIM plans have gone up dramatically in the last 6 months...

If you want the long TL;DR https://www.reddit.com/r/Googlevo...aonly_sim/

This is essentially what you would be doing when travelling internationally because your primary SIM would not work. In the case of an iPhone w/ DSDS you can set the primary SIM as AT&T, turn on wifi calling and setup the "travel" eSIM as the secondary and you can use the phone like you were in the US, however DID (regular phone call) you would be limited to AT&T prepaid for long-distance which is a ripoff.

Again the OP was talking about calling India from the US, so I'm just providing color for you.

That is not true what you say if you use Google voice, you can set GV to go over data only and it will run off the data SIM (local eSIM or phys SIM). Voice/SMS run through GV. AT&T does not provide roaming into India so you need to use another data SIM or eSIM. I use Google FI data only SIM but I have colleagues who use Airalo eSIM and others who use Reliance but they are PIO.

It depends upon your motivation. If you want carrier-service and you have better AT&T coverage then go for it. While visible is a offbrand of Verizon it runs it's own core network (unlike every other MVNO) and last I knew it only has 2 US POPs. This means that while it uses the same towers, once it goes into VBS (their network) it is routed though a proxy and then through their own core network. Also visible gets the lowest of low priority on Verizon network. Visible service is known to been quite poor. So 100% their ping/jitter is higher than the lowest of the low Verizon MVNO. It is the worst Verizon service available and has the lowest network priority. So if you live in a big metro you are probably be OK (web pages, interactive, games will suffer), but if you are in a congested area or fringe Verizon area your experience will likely be unsatisfactory.

If you have better Verizon coverage you can give it a shot or try US Mobile which provides priority Verizon and uses the Verizon network. It will cost more, but you will get Verizon higher tier postpaid-like performance for a lot less money.

Hope this helps but visible is not a bad gig if you are OK with times where services wont work or is poor, but need a lot of data and a ton of hotspot it may be worth it. Worst case you can try it out for like $5 or less w/ a promo code.

A lot of it also depends upon what phone you have and what carrier it supports and what of the big three gets the coverage you are looking for where you live.

Also this deal lets you roam to Mexico, Canada, PR for free up to 100%. visible none of the above, US only. There is also rollover so unused data rolls over to the next month so this is also unique in the prepaid space.

TL;DR price is only one dimension in the equation, HTH

I used att and Visible within last 9 years, my wife has been using visible for over one year, I didn't see any issues and also, att's coverage is not the best and sometimes not even good.

I think I cautioned YMMV, these are things people need to take into account. You cannot equate your experience to the US population, not unlike myself.

So a persons personal experience is not really helpful for the population unless they live next door and have the same travel patterns.

My advice it to try them out for a month or two and see. I wouldn't really recommend people doing this unless they are already on AT&T and they "know" their coverage because this is 12 months upfront and no refund.

Anyone know if the speeds or prioritization is any different than Redpocket? I'm on the 360 day 22GB plan now on Redpocket. Seems like it might be the same.

I am now using hellomobile(my primary number), Verizon (corp phone) and boost mobile (my backup number), att(my hotspot), my wife is using Visible; i was a customer of TMO and Sprint for quite a long time, I also used ultra mobile, mint mobile, tello in past years. All US carriers' signal coverage are not good in my opinion. Which carrier can give me strong signal bars when I am in P4 garage? So service quality is not a dimension when I am choosing carriers.

I am with ATT prepaid now on the old plan which is due to renew today.
Any idea how I can take advantage of this awesome promotion while keeping my old number, which is with AT&T now?

Worked fine for me today:
- iPhone 13 eSIM activation
- 16gb annual plan
- Paid with $300 refills (bought few weeks ago for $256)
- Ported number from Xfinity mobile (Verizon)

Used laptop for online eSIM activation:
https://www.att.com/prepaid/activ...ivate.html

- Entered EID (last 4) and IMEI2 used by eSIM (not the physical sim IMEI)
- Entered original service zip code for where my number is from (that way temp number is from same region)
- Selected $300 16gb plan
- ATT eSIM profile showed up on my phone settings so I accepted it
- It finished activating service with new temp number
- Got text message link to create online account and security pin so I did that using phone browser
- Laptop browser was sitting on payment page so I closed it
- Opened new browser and logged into my new online account
- Showed $300 due so I applied my refill cards to start service
- Updated online profile settings with my name and current address

Called ATT port dept @ 888-898-7685 using home phone so call wouldn't drop
- Entered temp number and got transferred to a rep
- Told her I just activated prepaid service with a temp number and wanted to port my regular number over
- Gave her temp number and security pin so she could access my account
- Gave her Xfinity port info (phone/account/port pin/name/address)
- Took a few mins for port approval
- Restarted phone and eSIM updated with my reg number

Call took about 10 mins -- Xfinity account took about 30 mins for the line to show "deactivated" (number port was fully completed)
