Lol, I'll be sure to check this post back in a few weeks time to see if your knowledge is accurate.
...something tells me, you went out of your way to make sure I know you have worthless info though.
Except alot of people still use DSLRs as they have easily a ten+ year life span. And for the people who have moved on to mirror less systems they likely brought some lenses with them by way of a fairly cheap adapter. Could be wrong but a prime 28mm 1.4 lens doesn't exist natively for the RF mount
This is one of the best regarded sigma art primes, I don't know why people downvote a great lens that's a great deal.

Because too many delusional cheapskates don't want promoted deals. They long for a time where the organically created deal reigned supreme... yet they don't seem to be posting those organic deals.
When you tell them, "be the change you want" they act like you're a shill.
All ranting aside, the short answer; Idiots. Idiots are down-voting.
Meantime, smart people know that DSLR lenses are already past extinction and merely excite old-timers like yourself. The right time to buy these -- if you're that old -- is when they're being cleared out at much, much, much bigger discounts than this. Like, weeks from now. NOBODY is manufacturing camera bodies for these mount types anymore.

Except they are manufacturing adapters that make the transition seamless. I wouldn't consider this a long-term money-making lens investment, but I don't think that they'll be cleared out for "much, much, much bigger discounts" in a matter of a few weeks. I would expect more increasingly good discounts punctuating a slow, steady decline in price. At least until there is an obvious mirrorless-native replacement to this lens.

I do agree with your more moderate analysis, compared to mine, frankly.
It would "work" perfectly well on a crop sensor camera, but it is pretty much double the size and weight of the Sigma 30/1.4 ART DC crop sensor lens. I believe the 28/1.4 has better MTF lens test results but you may not see a significant difference in most situations.
Rather, the more critical issues is whether you may be getting a full frame Nikon F or Canon EF camera in the future where you want to use this same lens. In this case, you'd get the 28mm. Or, if you are sticking with crop sensor format and would be bothered by a single focal length lens with an equivalent full-frame view of about 45mm weighing 2 pounds and sticking out about twice as much as the 30mm.
