I just got this router yesterday. All was great until this morning when none of my Ethernet connections would work but wifi connections were OK. Spent hours with tech support but only answer was either reset the router and try again or return. I reinstalled my old Tmobile Asus AC1900 and all is well again.

Great buy on a triband router thats normally $180. Wont take full advantage of 1Gbps fiber line but it will be close over wifi at 850Mbps on average to a high end client. It does have a 2.5Gbps port though which is nice so at least anything wired will take advantage of that full 1Gbps. Good distance and also pretty reliable from what I seen on a few reviews.

The only thing I am not sure about is if this required monthly subscription like its X90 sibling or if it has all the advanced functions included. Still at $120 this is a very good price on a TriBand wifi 6 router.

Anyone know of a router that has more than 1 2.5Gbos ports that's affordable?

Depends what you consider affordable the only one that jumps out at me right away is the Asus AX89X, I think its normal price is around $400 but it was on sale as cheap as $300. There are also a few routers with port aggregation but 1Gbps ports but cant think of the models right now.

Can with these https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-n...er/re700x/

I have an older C3200 tri band in the basement so use a RE330 (1200mbs) for the kids rooms at the back of the house on the second floor as they complain of it being spotty with the one in the basement, so they can cast but the RE700 is a lot faster than mine and works as a mesh setup where mine isnt

Only products that support Mesh with other routers are DECO mesh units. Routers only support OneMesh which means no you cannot mesh two standalone routers together. The only thing you can mesh this triband router with is the multiple OneMesh extenders offered by Tp-link as pointed out by AussieDad.

Got one at $79.97 early this year from a local warehouse. Looks like this is a out of date model and Costco tries to clean the inventory.

Definitely not out of date, so no one is clearing stock on it, it is their low to middle tier model. Currently the AX90 AX6600 or the GX90 AX6600 would be the next steps up. Price jumps decently for those two. This model will be easily around for 2-3 years. The GX90 AX6600 and AX90 from what I saw performance wise were pretty similar, but I have not seen a lot of reviews on it yet, the GX is the newer more gamer oriented model. The final model is the Archer AX11000 flagship router.

So the switch portion of the router failed?

How did you like it over the AC1900 while it did work? Speed increases and range should have been nice.

Yes, wifi speed was noticeable faster and range was slightly better. I am not sure if the ethernet ports failed or there is some issue with the firmware. Looks like this may be a known issue and couldn't be resolved with simple reboot. I was stuck with invalid IP address (169...). On a side note, I just ordered RT-AC1900P for $70 on Amazon but will miss Wifi 6 / Smart Connect feature.

No Link aggregation cause it has 1 x 2.5 wan/lan and 1 Gbps wan/lan port so if you are getting 1Gbps speeds from your ISP plug the modem into there and then use the 2.5Gbps port for your NAS. It will work a lot better than using LAN aggregation with 2x1 Gbps ports anyway. It then also has 3 normal 1Gbps LAN ports.

The issue you had of only getting a 169 ip address means you were getting a ARPA address, so that usually points to your modem not talking to your router anymore. Also could indicate a temporary service area issue for your ISP. If that was true you would have not had working wireless either so that cant be right. You might have just got a dud router, but overall I would have tried a replacement unit cause your problem is not very common at all looking at reviews. Noone complained of your issues from the costco reviews taht I could see, only issue I could find with any common place was signal drop issue but that could also be an environmental problem.

That all being said I would have not downgraded myself and spent more money on outdated tech, I would have tried a replacement before shifting over to a completely different brand like Asus if the replacement didnt work out. Spending $70 on lower end wifi 5 gear this late in the game is a waste of money. Just my two cents, but I got many many years of networking behind that two cents.
