The citronella candle combined with a human subject attracted slightly more mosquitoes that the human bait person alone; however, this difference was not statistically significant. We found no indication that such candles repel Ae. aegypti females.

The fragrance is very strong - like a very strong dryer sheet or laundry detergent. I ordered a few sets of these and the box is big that they come in. We had to put the boxes under our deck outside as the fragrance permeates through the cardboard box.
They burn nice and as others said - they last a long time.
