Accounts over 10 years old.. No, they are not fake. If you do your own research, you will find out this knife is very popular for the price/quality you are getting.
Yep it's true. They neglected to take out the bullets so it went off and shot down a bald eagle which then fell on the Statue of Liberty causing the statue to collapse. What's worst is when they were clearing the debris they found a "Made in China" sticker on the Statue of Liberty. Very embarrassing for Benchmade.
1) Given the high inflation, anything being the same price today as years ago is already a deal (as long as they didn't cut corners, aka shrinkflation).
2) This particular model will sell out at this price, then some time will pass before it comes back in stock. So announcing it on SlickDeals helps those looking for this knife.
3) Compared with other configurations of the Bugout including the upgraded steel or scales, this is a pretty good deal. My daily-carry is a Bugout CF Elite with lesser S30V steel and molded carbon-fiber-reinforced nylon scales, and it costs $157 vs. this model with nicer steel and G10 scales.

This and the black coated version have been on sale for the last week, the black coated one is $10 more if I'm correct. I bought the latter last year on sale and it has been a great knife, added the GlowRhino tritium scales to it.
The 20cv sharpens easily, holds an edge well, and isn't prone to corrosion. Probably my favorite knife steel. I keep it sharp on my work sharp field sharpner, real easy.

This seems to go on sale pretty regularly. I got the coated blade a while back and it is my favorite knife, (among other benchmades and spydercos). The size and ergos are just so good and the g10 scales give it the feel I would expect at this price point.

With the upgraded steel and tougher scales all while staying lightweight, it's no surprise why this config is a favorite for many. I've carried mine for two years now and it's still looks new.

Seems to have been the same price going back at a couple of years. What makes this a slickdeal?

My favorite knife I own is the Benchmade 555-S30V Mini Griptilian (the one with the hole cutout). It's $117[cutleryshoppe.com]. I'd get it over this one, but you guys do you.

I was impressed with Benchmade's service. I sent mine back with a loose thumb stud for sharpening and they sent me back a brand new blade.
