Check your local asian grocery stores, if you have any. The authentic, and healthier, versions from Asia are almost the same price as they always have. Mine went up a little during the supply chain issues, but are back down to their 2020 prices again.
Inflation hit the ramen, last purchase was $3.36 for 12
food shortage is next.

For those really pinching pennies FYI: The Maruchan in the styrofoam cups weigh 2.25 ounces each. Maurchan individually packaged without the cup are bigger at 3 ounces each. The 24 pack of the 3 ounce creamy chicken is showing as $4.80 in my area and it's sold and shipped by Walmart. So you can get double the number per package and each one weights .75 ounces more. Just provide your own bowl. Recommend those Pyrex glass bowls with the snap on lids. After we add the hot water on top of the ramen we snap the lid on there and let it sit until the noodles are suitably cooked. Also more eco-conscious as there is less waste to throw away 🌿

Generally it's what the noodles are made out of. The ones from Asia are usually Chinese wheat noodles that were dried out in the sun and then packaged. The US made ones are pretty much just bad carbs and very high levels of sodium. Most of the U.S. made fake ramen noodles are banned in other countries. Last year Mexico banned Maruchans and other brands. Top Ramen has been banned in several counties. Now that no one wants US made ramen noodles, Knorr shut down their productions of it a few years ago. Any country that bans foods containing tertiary butylhydroquinone is banning US ramen noodles.

I bought the chicken 12 pack as filler to get to the $35 free shipping threshold last week and WM shipped it in its own box with tons of the air bubble packs inside. I guess they didn't want them to arrive broken lol.

Just dilute the solution you'll be fine the main thing here is the ramen
Ok, for "starving students" and those cooking for 1 here''s how to make a reasonably healthy ramen meal. Buy miso (I prefer med brown - and it stores well in the ridge or freezer and remains spoonable), frozen peas and carrots, frozen or shave your own corn to freeze, firm tofu, eggs, and if you have a ranch 99 nearby - when they have it "mock duck or "mushroom flavor"(?) vegetarian item (green label brick like). Slice the tofu into 1/2" sticks, drain and freeze (to draw out water and make chewy),
In a small pan, put a clean egg and as much of water you intend to have and put on low heat - You won't crack the shell this way and as ATK showed, make hard boiled eggs in 1/2" of water in covered pot. Meanwhile, gather items from freezer, tofu, mock duck, can both be sliced frozen. You still want the egg to spend some time in hot water so time adding the ramen during the last 2 minutes along with all the accouterments. You can add leftover meat, and jazz it up with green onion, bean sprouts, diced mushrooms etc. Remove the egg, peel and halve in serving bowl. Notice you can do this meal with ANY of the unloved ramen flavors offered as you are using miso instead of their soup base, but sill I occasionally add a little of the soup base as there is some evidence that glutimates aids in brain function. If you are making a spicy version a little lemon juice when served is a nice addition. Of course if you don't want to hard boil the egg you can poach it with the noodles when cooking. And for that comment about "cup of noodles" I avoid that Styrofoam cup and there really is little reason for it when adding frozen peas and carrots to packaged ramen is so easy to do yourself.

the advancement of "quick cook" ramen noodles over pasta was made by flash frying the raw noodles which created a porous texture amenable to water absorption. . You can find a documentary on nissan's creation on NHK's series "top inventions". Instant ramen noodles are NOT air dried out in the sun.

good for college students, but once you have a decent job, skip it. step up to the shin ramyun. much better tasting. also to reduce sodium content, just use half of the msg packet , but i just buy the organic low sodium chicken broth.
