I ported to Cricket several years back when they had the 5/100 deal. Over the years, they had several good deals on their locked phones, I've used them for 6 months and they become unlocked. I think the best deal several years back was from Best buy where I brought a cricket sim card, $40 prepaid refill, and a cheap dumb nokia phone. I would return the sim card used the refill and sold the nokia phone at ebay. heck, this was one of the better deals,

Many people are upset because they are no cancelling the grandfathered 5/100 deal. In my circle, I have one person who uses little data and another person who uses alot of data. So Cricket don't really have family plans that cater to this but offer everybody the same plan like one size fits all model.

Their pricing model is stupid, with right now the best deal is the 4/100 deal where everybody gets unlimited data while 4 people on their 10gb/month plan will be $110.

if you buy one of these, how long do you have to use it? my yearly ATT plan isn't up until October, but this seems like a decent deal...if I can apply it at that time.

should be a year if tou buy the $300 card.. it depends in the amount you buy

Before I got the 5g phone, Cricket was really slow since my data was not prioritized. In fact I was ready to switch carriers for that reason alone. Once I switched to a 5G phone, it was much faster (at least 3x) which surprised me because my plan is the same. Just in case that helps some folks decide.

I thought it was not going away, the price is just increasing… I mean your coffee and everything else has gone up postpaid plans have increased!

It appears Cricket is going to lose a lot of people soon, I thought I was the only one getting ready to jump. I'm switching to the direct T-Mobile prepaid plan for around $15/$20 a month or so.

After sales tax/911 fees....only ends up saving around $8 vs buying at Target (where you can buy the cards for face value w/o taxes/fees)

New cost per line is $26 instead of $20. That's basically 30% increase, to put things into context. I had a feeling they probably have been trying to get rid of the grandfathered pricing for a while and was just waiting for the critical customer base number and a perfect excuse (inflation). Count me as another who's planning on leaving cricket once my credits are up for our 5 lines. Problem is they announced the change days after I just loaded up with 6 months of credit (now only worth 4.6 months). It was a good run but now time to move on.

It's $130 now for 5 lines. It's cheaper to switch to their unlimited plan which comes in at $125 for 5 lines.
