Stem [amazon.com]
Bar [amazon.com]
Grips [amazon.com]
Pedals [amazon.com]

Be sure to watch YT for installations. Common installation mistakes for above items include over-tightening and tightening wrong direction.

Start with these 2 videos and be patient:

How to Adjust a Front Derailleur [youtu.be]
How to Adjust a Rear Derailleur [youtu.be]

One main reason MTB/gravel riders upgrade to 1x (one by) drivetrain is to simplify the derailleur adjustments. This bike can be upgraded to 1x later, but would require upgrading the rear hub/wheel. There's nothing wrong with 3x drivetrain on this bike. In my opinion, 1x is more of a quality-of-life upgrade, others might tell you 1x also saves weight.

noob question... how do you remove the handle bar grips? mine are pretty in place and I don't see any screws that are holding it down. thanks!
Twist and pull. Little soap water could help.

Great post, thanks for putting in the time and effort, repped! My experiences have been almost the same. Regarding the grips (that indeed twisted way to easily), I started with the $10 grips on Amazon, but there are SO MANY and I got tired of seeing a set that looked great when looking at over all star rating, but when sorting and looking at the newest reviews, common reports of the locks not working, twisting, etc. when there shouldn't be. More than a few from these cheaper grips recommended these from ODI, and I spent the extra $15 to not have to read through any more reviews Big Grin, but in case these don't work out, do you have any recommendations for cheaper, yet good grips? https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C14K30

Also, regarding the kick stand mount, I was hoping that there would indeed be the 40mm mount integrated like I saw on the Trek frame commonly referenced in this thread as comparable, but I don't see this on my bike (16" frame), perhaps different sizes do/don't have the kickstand mounting? I even felt down both sides, and don't feel any place where they might have been painted over, etc. (like this right? https://smile.amazon.com/BV-Adjus...B08TB4H66R). Do you happen to have a pic of what you are talking about? Perhaps I am an idiot and am missing it. I had the same experience on Amazon with kickstands as with grips too BTW, and ended up picking this, but have yet to try mounting, it will be tight and there is a cable running in the same space on my bike, so not even sure this will work. I ordered the used one for $10 shipped, seemed new to me): https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DYFS3N4

I also replaced the handlebar stem/neck with a shorter/adjustable one posted earlier in this thread, the stock solid one was indeed pretty long pushing the handlebars straight forward. Ordered this one used too, seems fine, trying to save every dollar I can for this budget bike: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07KBWGPD1. Being adjustable on a part meant to carry a lot of stress/weight and which would be catastrophic if it failed during a ride... makes me nervous... so I have my eye on a few solid replacements at different angles, at the least I can figure out what is the most comfortable using this adjustable one so as to pick the right solid one for $10ish.
I do see the mounting tab in my pic, but couldn't figure out how to attach a pic on the mobile SD app? I'll post the pic tonight.

Pic attached with 40mm kickstand mounting plate circled. If yours doesn't have this, I've had excellent results with this one on two of my bikes for several years: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LNM79CQ/

You could mount it where the mounting plate would be so it doesn't interfere with the hydraulic brake hose.

Thanks for the pic! Yep, mine definitely doesn't have that (pic attached), perhaps they omitted it from the 16" bike. I sure wish I had gotten at least an 18" (I ordered a 20"), as I am looking at seat posts and understanding that the seat tube size is one of the biggest differences and it will matter in the long run for how I can ride. I didn't look long at seat posts though, decent drop seat posts cost AT LEAST twice as much as this whole bike, just like forks Smilie.

I don't think that the kick stand I ordered is going to work for this bike, much less fit in that little channel that also has the derailleur cable running through it, so thanks for the link on that other kick stand. I think I like it being that far back, no chance of conflicts with pedals or anything else in the middle of the bike.

Puzzled at how inconsistent this Framed is...frame sizing seems different between Rendal and this, kickstand mount is missing on the 16", few other specs are all over the place -- different between Rendal, this and listed specifications on various sites...very curious.

Maybe you could trade your 16" with 18" (or 20") with someone else on here, if they're close to you. Sounds like a few folks got 1 size too large. Don't blame them as most budget bike shoppers tend to buy 1 size too large, to no fault of their own but the fault of outdated bike sizing charts that are decades old now. Modern bike geometry fits differently from old school bikes. Most bike fitters would tell you they get more beginner cyclists come in with bikes that are too large than too small or just right.

There are some budget options on dropper posts that are still decent and not 2x the price of this bike (in fact almost the same priceSmilie). Same for budget forks. With 31.6mm seat post and head tube that can potentially take tapered forks with bottom EC(external cup), these budget upgrade options should be available for years to come, so no hurry on either of these upgrades until you're ready. Nothing wrong with manually lowering the seat post after a big climb to hit the jumps and fast berms.

If anyone was silly like me and sent back the wrong frame size to get the correct size that was on the order, they just cancelled my replacement order after receiving the rma'd bike haha. Oh well, hopefully it will come on sale again now that we know there is much more stock of this bike and not a true clearance bike.

If I wanted to swap out the 29er tires with something a little lower profile for my kid would that work? I know the rims are 700c. Just wondering if anyone measured the rim width. I'm assuming a 38 or 42mm width tire would fit? Maybe a 35mm?

I am about 6" and my wife is 5'8". I got the 18-inch frame for her and the 20-inch frame for myself(Looked at Framed sizing chart).

Did I get 1 size too large for both of us? I can always cancel the 20-inch one since it's not shipped out yet.

Really hard to say. Some people have long legs and short torsal, or vise versa. For mountain bikes, you generally want to leave generous room between the top tube and your junk while standing over the bike for obvious reason in case you try to bail on trails. But if you're only riding smooth pavement on this bike, then won't matter as much.

Is the reason for faster rolling? If so, this XC bike already comes with XC style tire treads that should roll well. Have they tried it?

Got my 16'' delivered. Measured the frame, it is 16'', no number marked on the seat tube. Expecting 20'' 7/9 according to Fedex tracking.

My front brake needs some adjustment, outside of the wheel disk seems touching the break a tiny bit. Not sure how to adjust that, will do some research later.

--just found some youtube video about the adjustment, seems quite simple:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym8mreUhelQ
For those tweaking their bikes, this post was one that helped me, I thought my front disc was warped, slight enough that I couldn't see it, but could definitely hear the periodic rubbing (like 3 times per wheel turn). Looking at how the caliper was mounted to the frame after watching this video it was clear that the caliper was slightly crooked, and following their instructions, now no rubbing at all with a <5 min adjustment. Now on to the derailleurs...

EDIT: Tuning derailleurs sucks... ordered a bike repair stand from Amazon to help make it not so much of a PITA... there goes another $70 :/.

Partly lower rolling and the other being maybe lowering the bike a tad. I know she can fit on it but it would probably be a bit more comfortable for her with the top bar if it was lowered just a bit for standover height.

29'er and 700c wheels are the same size, so sure you could go with narrower 700c tires. I didn't measure rim width, but can't imagine these budget wheels would be wider than 35mm so any wider 700c tires should work. Do realize stock 2.1" tire width is already on the narrow side for XC. Any narrower and you start compromising trail handling. But if you stick to gravel or very gentle green trails, I see zero issues.
