I run thicker than recommended oil in my older vehicles, better lubrication, but less efficiency. I live in Florida, so the first(w) number doesn't matter that much in my case. These new engines are blowing up with the super thin oils they are recommending to meet the required fuel economy. Not an engineer, just a shade tree mechanic, YMMV. Wink

Its only a few bucks more for the 5-20 stuff in pennzoil.. not my favorite brand.. Prefer Royal Purple.. but that runs about $38.. for 5 quart jug HMX version $60.. Thanks for the info.. I am not a shade tree mechanic.. more along the lines of barely keep it running ha ha

This is perfectly good oil for non-turbo engines where the oil gets changed at regular intervals, such as 5k miles. Heck, it's most likely fine for turbos too, it's just that I like synthetic oil for lubing the turbo, which runs crazy hot.

it's API SP-rated, and any oil after SN+ is fine for turbos really since that's when they started testing for turbo performance.
it's not dexos-certified, which is more strict than API ratings, but that may just be a matter of not wanting to pay GM royalties
