From the Amazon listing:

Klein Tools CL390 is an automatically ranging true root mean squared (TRMS) digital clamp meter. It measures AC/DC current and NCVT via the clamp, AC/DC voltage, DC microamps, resistance, continuity, frequency, capacitance, and diodes via test leads, and temperature via a thermocouple probe.

------

Not the lowest price in history (per 3x camel), but near recent lows. Reviews are mostly positive. Viewing in sunlight seems to be a weak point, so if working on an outdoor A/C unit in the sun, you may want another option.

Seems like at least a decent deal if you need the features without jumping way up in price for fluke, etc.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I wont trust my safety to some no name Chinese crap meter. Just my 2 cents.
I recently needed a capacitance meter to check my HVAC run capacitor. That's the main limitation I had with my DMM
I used mine (older model) recently to measure my furnace startup current so I could size a generator.

I'm not commenting on the quality of the Klein meter or the Habotest meter.
Nevertheless, there's a lot more to meters than just price and online reviews (for ex. design, build quality, durability, reliability, accuracy, certifications, warranty, safety, etc.).
Have a look at the video below (and if you find it interesting and you do a search on the creator's Youtube page he's got a Part 2 which continues the Fluke factory tour).

Inside Fluke - The Measure of Innovation 2015 - Pt 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O...uUM&t=355s

^Not a Klein meter demonstrated, but a Fluke. Some meters may be used to produce magic smoke and magic flames.
What's the quality of the materials and internals of the cheap meter?
What's the quality of the fuse you get in the cheap meter?
YMMV on cheaply made cost cutting Chinese tools.

Quote from PCMAN1337 :
Just because YOU don't know the company doesn't mean it is no name. Plenty of reviews on this meter, one of the best. Sold also under Kaiweets brand.

Btw where do you think Klein is made? China just like this. How much is the Klein sticker worth to you?

.....and...

HT208D Max 1000V vs Klein MAX 600V.
HT208D Temperature Measuring Range -4 ~ 1832F vs Klein no measuring
HT208D Flashlight vs Klein no flashlight
HT208D fancy prongs vs Klein standard prongs

Don't know about the Klein but it is also very accurate, beating a Sanwa unit per this video:
https://youtu.be/p2v7-uQD6QM?t=519

And all of that for half the cost.

Could you name one point in which the Klein is better without mentioning the brand?

Quote from Banana_Fly :
Lord that 1000v is not 600v on Klein because the materials are not rated for 1000v. That crappy meter you are linking may be suicidal to use to measure 1000v in industrial settings. Is it UL listed? Does it have a company to sue if you get injured? Go buy it and be happy, but one needs to know about electrical safety, listings, and ratings before getting 1000v rated devices on Aliexpress

Thanks. seems like a edge case and not a typical/often event.
Could be used to find parasitic draws on cars. Not "frequent" occurrence, but very useful when needed

I once bought a laser measuring tape from an unknown brand on amazon with 4.5 stars and 1000+ reviews. It quit working after 6 months of using it a couple of times. Yes, it was $20 cheaper and now it is a paperweight as the seller is no longer there.

No thanks.
That sucks. Was the seller habotest?

Don't kid yourself. There are plenty of those on alibaba and amazon.

It seems that you are their rep here.
Enjoy it.

You say you're worried about your safety but you're not testing your meter against a known voltage before using it?

Dont get that one. Get Uni-T. This is popular in DYI, tons of hacks, etc. Very good calibration out of factory.

Oh no. Your recommendation may cause another rant by a name brand fan. That Uni-T costs even less on Aliexpress. As mentioned earlier, I bought several items from that site with no problems.

Search slickdeals for circuit finder. I got a Klein a year ago and used it once. It was able to locate my circuit in my panel. I think it was like $20.

Another option I used to do before I had the tester: set up WiFi camera or a WiFi router on circuit you want to find. Connect to that on your phone. Go to panel and turn of breakers until you lose the connection. Not ideal, but easy for a one person job.
Thanks for the suggestion.

aliexpress is ok if one does not mind waiting. If not delivered or have issues they will refund, no issues. Also some items tend to be comparable to amazon/ebay prices with local delivery so watch out for that as well.

As a homeowner, I just purchased this because I recently had my 220V dryer outlet fail in a scary way (lots of sparks and melted plastic) and it was hard to troubleshoot and validate the fix because my multimeters couldn't handle a 30 amp circuit. The extra features are just a bonus.
Why would multimeter need to handle 30A circuit to troubleshoot 220V power outlet?

At first I was impressed with the Klein CL390 over the Ideal 61-747 as the NCV sensor has a more sensitive sensing range like a Geiger counter plus the added feature of measuring DC milliamps. However, the DC milliamps measuring requires the test probes connected in series rather than just the clamp which is what I was trying to avoid. Also, the display on the CL390 is almost unreadable with any glare especially outside in sunlight when checking the compressor or car in the driveway.

Quote from thefisch :
Thanks OP. I picked up one of these from HD a couple of weeks ago for $90 so you saved me $15.

I also picked up the Ideal 61-747 for around this price on Amazon the other week. I will be trying out the Ideal and this Klein to see which one I prefer.
I may check out the Uni-T mentioned below since the smaller clamp with 100A limit seems to provide some usefulness for auto troubleshooting with DC milliamps measuring via the clamp. Frankly, I probably don't need more than 100A detection for my DIY needs.

Agree - checking for the generator is the only time I've used the clamp/current feature of mine. Others may have better use cases.
Current measurement, while perhaps not as common as voltage, is still an essential capability. The ability to measure current without breaking the circuit (using the clamp) is a nice feature, For example, if you want to see the resting current drawn by your car's electronics, just check it at the positive cable. About how long should the internal battery run your fish finder? Measure the current flow at either terminal, then divide into the AH capacity of the battery to approximate the runtime. Does your "75-W equivalent" LED bulb really only consume 12 watts? Measure AC current by placing clamp around one wire of the lamp cord, then multiply amps times line voltage (measured at the receptacle using the probes) to calculate watts used. Possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

I said I would not buy no name Chinese brands not Klein Einstein. But thanks for the pointless rant directed towards me about nothing. Quite humorous.
