If you want to shorten the life of any refrigeration product, plug it in immediately. To be clear, any such compressor should sit for 24 hours to let the oil drain down before you turn it on. Sure it will work for a wile if you don't do this preventative measure. But if you wait before you turn it on, you have the chance of making the compressor last many many years. This applies to any such compressor that has been recently at an angle while being moved or jostled around.

I dispute that living in Phoenix, where the temperature gets well over 100 most of the summer and in many garages well above that. If your freezer has trouble transferring the heat from the freezer then it will have trouble cooling or at the very least inefficiently.

This is their regular price, not a deal at all and certainly not a front page deal.
Bought this a month ago for $170 + free shipping. That was the deal.
For this price you might as well get the Insignia one from BB with a built in light.

I question the build quality due to the weight being 20lbs lighter than other comparable 7cf freezers.

I've had the Insignia 7.0 cu-ft for 5 years now and have had no issues with it in my garage closet. I will say our garage closet doesnt get too hot despite being in Atlanta area because our garage is mostly well sealed. I dont think I've seen the garage area ever get above maybe 80-85ish.

+1. Freezer came with a dent in a lower corner. Also the lid wont seal due to pool installation. I have to loosen some of the screws to adjust. After that it works perfectly. I thought about returning it but it's a real pain.
At 217 its not a deal at all. Walmart sells this years long at 170ish.

I bought this same freezer in white for $105 delivered in Sept 2017 and it's worked great. It's in a garage in Texas where the temperature gets to be 105F ambient and it will still be 0F inside the freezer. I put a small 12V computer fan next to the compressor on a 5V power adapter so that it's just a small breeze that only uses 1 watt. It's just a bit of insurance to cool the compressor down on summer days since the ambient temp is so high. Energy use is 0.5 kwh per day in January and 1.3 kwh per day in July.

I'm looking at buying this black version to have a 2nd freezer Question is, should I wait.. Recession is coming and things like this will be discounted because people won't be buying.

Insignia 7 cu ft : 63.9 lbs

Difference of 4.4 lbs. This appears to be exactly the same construction as my 2017 model and if so, mine has lasted 5 years in fairly extreme conditions. I just added a photo I took on June 11th where it was a 110F difference between inside and outside the freezer. I checked Smart Life and that day it used 1.18 kWh.

​Waltrack seems to have stopped refreshing product prices in early April, however the long term normal price for this item is $198. The highest was $300 and the lowest was $111. It was $198 back in April. $217 isn't terrible if you need it but it's not a deal.

Don't buy it …. Bad quality product …. My Arctic King freezer lasted about 7 months ….It was inside the house (not in garage). I had to pay $60 to dispose it. I have another freezer (different brand) which is about 15 years old, still running strong.

I just had two Arctic King 5 cubic foot freezers delivered today from Walmart. No dents. They look great. I'd recommend this deal based on my experience.

Arrived on the 6th severely dented. I mean severely on every side.

Then I contacted customer service where they assured me fed ex would pick it up on Thursday at my home. They lied. The rep put the exact opposite…that me, a 5'2 llady, would be hauling it in to their store. A second call netted an apology, and the promise that they would pick it up between 9-6 on Friday. Thanks for tying up another of my weekdays, Wallyjerk. Will try out Insignia, with a different shipper…that is a good brand. My 5 cu ft Galanz arrived in perfect condition from Target.

Now I remember why I hate Wallyworld.
