It's less that Roku is so sought after, and more that Google TV, or at least early implementations of it, are best avoided. Supposedly it's been improved. But the damage to the brand has already been done.

Regardless, it's a non-issue if plug in an external box.

I have the Roku version of this TV and it is excellent. If you are buying a TV, get one with Dolby Vision. This TV has that. Awesome stuff.

well TCL release updates to fix the OS bugs, but if you still don't like the OS you can always plug a Firetv wich will be on sale in the next week because of Prime Day

I've got the R646 version of this TV from TCL and haven't had any major issues since they updated the software. Sure a minor thing may pop up but it's nothing that a quick power on/off can't fix.

I've never had a Roku TV but I assume all TV OS's have some minor quirks with them.
