You can turn off the kid features, and it is just like a regular 'adult' kindle, but with a free case and extended warranty. Definitely keep it.

Good deal, but 167ppi is kind of rough. It is well worth it, to go to Paperwhite with 300ppi.

Agreed. Always get the paperwhite over the regular. Much easier for the kids to read in bed.

I actually accidently bought this for same price couple weeks ago for myself and wonder if I should keep or exchange for a regular kindle before I open it

Thanks--travelling a lot this summer and they're great so I don't have to carry tons of books for my 7 year old. He's reading on my 12 year old nook right now.

Edit: Looks like the ppi is higher on the old nook at the same size. Like I know this is a better device, but that's kind of disappointing.

If you have an old Kindle e-reader, Trading it in can bring the price down to $28 plus whatever the value of your trade-in is. YMMV if your account qualifies for the INSTANT trade-in credit.

I tried to do the trade-in. It did not apply the 20% discount at the time of order.
Did the 20% discount work for you?

Nope. This is the best version.

Wanted to add that if you are in the kids mode then Wikipedia is locked. Of course you can exit the kid's mode, but then no free harry potter for you!
