What is the electronics return policy on Amazon? Can you try something out and be able to return it without hassle ? Speed can be subjective, and depend on use patterns, etc.

Couple weeks ago I got HD 8 Plus ref. for $50 and new for $60 with 3GB RAM, kids are happy.
I hope this price will be back in a few days (Prime Day).
You should never get a tablet / phone with less than 4GB ram, let alone one with 1GB !! of ram. It's junk.

Big thread on SD about how you could hack that ancient junk to "function properly" and I got suckered into trying it. It rests in the bin of shame with the eepc and other dead electronics and that is where this would end up if I was going to waste $30 on something with a small screen and less power than my phone.
Hacking the Fire Tablet to not be annoying and slow is not worth your time imo. You can get a 15" ips touchscreen Acer 315 for $110 right now or much better tablet for around $50 when on sale.
