Been waiting for an AirPort Express/Extreme replacement ever since Apple discontinued them but I highly doubt there will ever be a successor.

The networking industry needs someone like Apple so they can step up their game

This is my biggest hope, is that Apple makes an updated AirPort Express. Those devices were very good. They've brought back other things such as MagSafe, legacy ports etc. Hopefully, AirPort Extreme will come back also.

We currently are pretty invested in the Amazon ecosystem (echo show 8, echo show 5, 2x echos, 2x echo dots, ring doorbell), but I'm getting so fed up with the echos. They are a huge PITA to use and the Alexa app is absolute TRASH. How can a $1tn company like Amazon make an app that is so garbage? We almost exclusively play Spotify and Audible. Wondering if I should just go a completely different path.

I got rid of all my Amazon Dots and replaced them with HomePods. Initially, it's an higher cost but for the ecosystem investment, it was worth it. Plus, I use HomeKit heavily.

Similar boat. Have a bunch of old Echo hardware laying around (1st gen Echo, 2 1st gen Dots, 3rd gen Dot, 4th gen Dot, and a 1st gen Echo Show 5) that's been seeming to perform worse and worse and introducing annoyances (following up with new features and unrelated garbage when setting timers or asking the weather). Took the time to set up all our smart home stuff in Homebridge and now finally pulling the trigger to buy 3 HomePod Minis.
