Be sure to email SS and ask if this is Microsoft Authorized.

If they say it is, then you have recourse if the licensing fails like it did for me.

Got my money refunded even though I had installed it.

While these licenses may activate and work, they are NOT legit. This is Office Professional Plus, which is only sold by Microsoft through volume licensing to large organizations. They are not intended for sale to consumers. You can call Microsoft and verify this for yourself.

Just use LibreOffice (previously called OpenOffice). It's open source. It's free. Info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice
It's compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint for what the vast majority of people use.

If you're using more advanced features, that relatively few people use, especially for home use, there could be some compatibility issues.

It's no lie: We haven't seen better pricing on a one-device lifetime license for Office. This $40 one-time fee includes future version updates, too, so no need to worry that you'll be stuck with 2021 software forever. Whether for Mac or Windows, this rare discount on Microsoft Office is an exceptional value. Looking for a computer to run that software on? We can help with that, too. Check out some of our deals on Mac and Windows computers.

It appears you can search for partners here but neither stack social nor stack commerce are in the results.

I doubt they are actually a partner. Maybe there is another place to verify?

I bought this a few months ago and finally got around to installing it yesterday. When I went to put in the key, it said that the key was already used. I contacted customer support and they were quick to fix the problem, sent a new key.

Not sure if these keys are legit or not, but at least their customer support seemed decent.

Future updates to 2021, where they add features and patches.

Where do you check the licensing status? Is it somewhere in your Microsoft Account page?
Every time I open a windows program, I get a message that says "Your license isn't genuine and you may be a victim of software counterfeiting."

I've been getting that for a year. I bought it off of ebay.

This reply sounds super legit - I wasn't doubting it before, but now I am lolll

Anyway, $40 is basically 4 months of DISNEY+. I'll just cancel that garbage for a 4 months, if this thing ends up turning off on me, loll. YOLO

I'm literally still using the 2010 version with no issues -- so I think we'll survive whether or not it gets updates.

Your theory is that popular science magazine is advertising fraudulent Microsoft keys that actually work at Microsoft? Or maybe you don't understand the difference between Grey market and an actual sale. Office is extremely overpriced and Microsoft knows they will make plenty of money even at $39.99. Targeting different audiences at different price levels for the same product goes on a lot.
I think you don't understand the difference between the various Office products. Office Professional Plus is only sold by Microsoft through volume licensing to large organizations. It is never sold directly to consumers. This seller bought volume licensing keys and is reselling them in violation of Microsoft's terms of use. The fact that they tell you to activate the product within 30 days is a HUGE red flag. Legitimate retail keys can be activated at any time.

Most people who use uncertified microsoft licenses are <21 yr olds. Microsoft lets you get used to it, so when u can afford it, you buy it when u get a real job.
In the mid 90's Microsoft was aware that their software was being pirated rampantly in China. They chose to look the other way thinking they would allow China to get hooked on its products and they will eventually be paying customers when their economy grows.

Today, 90% of the companies in China use Microsoft software… but only 1% actually pay for it.

So, be honest here: do you ACTUALLY believe Microsoft is gonna come through and ban all these keys from being used after being installed? Assuming this does violate their TOU? It's great that you are seemingly defending their corporation for whatever reason, but you're not really willing to explain the practical circumstance of going forward with a purchase like this..
