While these licenses may activate and work, they are NOT legit. This is Office Professional Plus, which is only sold by Microsoft through volume licensing to large organizations. They are not intended for sale to consumers. You can call Microsoft and verify this for yourself.

Just use LibreOffice (previously called OpenOffice). It's open source. It's free. Info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice
It's compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint for what the vast majority of people use.

If you're using more advanced features, that relatively few people use, especially for home use, there could be some compatibility issues.

Tried this $39 deal yesterday, but the key provided was invalid / not activated.

Email support. They respond on the weekend. It takes awhile but it is better to get started on it now.

I had the exact same issue. Never did the previous deal. I got my code on this deal and tried it within about 30 minutes of receiving it. MS said it was invalid. I've been emailing back and forth with them all morning and afternoon. They want you to send them some screen shots. Waiting to hear back from them now.

Hit up their support department. Send snapshots of the screen where it says the key is invalid or cannot be redeemed. They helped me out relatively quickly for a weekend support request. I was seriously impressed they did.

I have purchased codes online that said "lifetime" yet only lasted a year before they expired. I have purchased this code and activated on my account but haven't installed it yet. This is only $39, Office 365 is $99 a year. If this lasts the full year, I will be satisfied with the purchase. Hopefully it will last longer. Who knows, I will roll the dice.

When you used to be able to buy all kinds of keys for a few bucks even streaming on eBay up till the pandemic, I have never had one that stopped working. If it's 1 year key (streaming for example), it worked for a year. If it's lifetime, software for example, when I reinstall 4 or 5 years later, still works.

Looks like their back-end provisioning servers are heavily lagging right now. An acquaintance purchased this morning, and the redemption screen has a message asking them to check back later for the license key.

Yeah, I had to wait as well when I ordered a couple of days ago. They sent me an invalid code and I am waiting on a new code.

Yep, bit the bullet and purchased this. Tried to redeem the code immediately after getting the email, and got an error saying the license key has already been used. Sent a customer service request to stackcommerce (support in popsci email from order) to hopefully resolve soon. Remember when licenses were good forever? Pepperidge farm remembers.
