Does the Gold edition already include this? It is usually $5 more than the basic one. Getting the basic edition plus this would match the good deal on the Gold edition. So it would be a good upgrade for those who has purchased the basic edition already.

While I enjoyed the DLC, it was not as challenging or fulfilling as the original content. It also has some performance issues, but being a turn based game they are purely superficial. The donkey kong mechanic is fun, but he's so powerful you kinda cut through the content quickly. There's always incredibly difficult challenge maps if that's what you want. Love this game though, $15 for all the content base game and dlc is a steal price. I think they got me for about $30 across it all. Not salty, its a fun game. Like xcom that doesnt make you want to throw stuff.

Also the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Gold Edition with the DLC often is on sale for $13-$15 very odd that it isn't in sale as well.

Great game imho if you love turn based combat (i.e XCOM, Banner Saga) but fun and light-hearted.

Can you play the DLC without finishing the main story of the base game? I ask because my 7 year old loves this game, but he always just plays the first hour or so of it over and over and stops when he gets to whatever area has him vexed. If the DLC is less challenging, I'll bet he loves it.

You need to beat the first world for access to the DK content. I can't confirm the difficulty level but I highly doubt it's less challenging. I would bet on it being more challenging then the first world.
