Getting this just to upgrade to newer remote for my Cube.
Amazon sells the remote alone for $30, while I can get this for $16.

Most likely this would be the price on prime day as well as most of the Amazon devices are being sold as part of early prime day sales!!

Said that, since prime day is close, you could purchase now and return this if you see a lower price around prime day!!

I will say, last year they did these same deals and then prime day the deals ended up slightly better… not by much, but they were a few extra bucks off.

This may actually be a good thing for some people. We were having a lot of DHCP issues using a 4k streaming stick on an older 1080p TV. Had to get a non-4k streaming stick to resolve the issue.

Good point, one thing to add is that if you have the Prime Rewards Visa--you should definitely wait until Prime Day starts.

During prime day, you'll get 6% cash back instead of 5%. Additional 1% isn't much but hey.. every bit helps!

The reasons to get this Fire Stick is for the newer remote (people asking $20 or more on eBay) or you're on Amazon's ecosystem, else get the onn. 4K Android TV box for $3 more.

My parents currently have gen 2 of these fire sticks. They run YouTube TV and YouTube out of it and it seems fine. I've read that gen 3 is 50% faster, can anyone attest that it makes it a worthy upgrade? Thx.

I thought it was just me. I have the 4k max but the volume and the off/on button does not work on our 2010 Sony Bravia. We've been using the tv remove for those features in the mean time. I almost returned it but then in the back of my mind I chocked it up to compatibility issues.
