You're not alone, I said the same thing
Vinyl sounds better than MP3s ever could. Most of the music is broadcast in some lossy format, where details are missed, and the overall quality is reduced. It happens because audio files get compressed to make them small enough to store thousands of them on the phone, and to stream online.
I appreciate you replying. I'm not trying to be snarky, but the difference simply doesn't matter to me, and I doubt the vast majority of people could tell the difference. (I remember when CDs were 'new' and everyone thought they were better than everything that had gone before ... I was equally as skeptical.)
Honest questions get honest answers. Here's my take (from a non-audiophile).
Properly mastered vinyl sounds warmer and more detailed than streaming (or mp3) when played on a good turntable with a proper amp and speakers. Its more of an experience for me akin to going to a concert.
Not all vinyl is cut well. You're not going to get as much depth from a digitally sourced pressing of Katy Perry. But an analogue sourced copy of Miles Davis is going to be noticeably better. It comes down to quality for me. Apple Music Lossless is making that gap narrower, but I have some pressings that digital will never be able to touch.
As for streaming and MP3, they clip audio (look up Fourier transforms) and I can't abide that for some performances. Hope that helps.
Moving it!? Even SD can't help a person save enough to afford to move these days!
None of that is true.
