Download and run an application called HWinfo64.
In one of the windows you will see a Summary, in the tree click on Memory and it should tell you how much and what type of RAM you have installed. If you see two rows under Memory it means you have 2 sticks. It will also say the type and speed, eg "8 GB PC4-28700 DDR4..." so you should buy preferably memory that matches yours (same brand, same speed) or better speed (for instance if yours is PC4-24000, then this one PC4-28800) should work.
Another thing you need to do, is to find out how many memory slots your motherboard has; for that click on Motherboard above Memory and then on the right side you should have a link and when you click on it it may take you to specifications page, if not, google the motherboard model.
I hope this helps.

Was able to get $10 off, keep refreshing Newegg page and a $10 new customer link will pop up, I used a burner text number off the free apps and the $10 code was given, hope this helps

Edit: was actually able to use it on my old account so new customer account need not apply

This is the code I used, maybe it is universal

It's $10 off $50

Tempted. I have the 2x8 3000mhz version of this in a family member's build - it was the most cost effective option back when memory was much more expensive.

I have the 16 gig black version of this. I wonder if it's OK to add this to my extra 2 slots.

Depends on your rig's color scheme.... Though really it's the same stuff.

What's the hype here? Is it just a good deal on a budget Corsair kit? There are cheaper 16GB kits with the same timings.

If I currently have 2x8gb DDR4 3000mhz would this not be ideal to pair with at 3600mhz?

Worked for me on my cellphone. Just use another email instead of the regular one you use to get that ten dollar discount. Thanks for the heads up

Really? I keep getting "The code is no longer active" and I tried as a guest, my main newegg account, and a 2nd one I made using another email address.

EDIT: Okay I think I see what's happening... I believe everyone gets their own individual code sent to their text messages and the code can be used on any Newegg account, but it's only (I believe) a one time use.

I opened the link in an incognito tab, refreshed it once or twice (let it fully load) then I got a prompt for 10 dollars off a purchase of 50$ by signing up for texts. I used the email of the account I just made and then setup with my mobile number. The code was sent to my phone after confirming texts and I used the code on my main newegg account. Hope this helps Smilie

Noo you have to go to newegg and Not be logged in. Browse around and you should get a pop up to get 10 dollars off of anything over 50 for new members. Then you log in a new email account and they should send you a code. I used PayPal to pay as it has my address in it already.

Its fine. Same chip. Even if its not, one of the xmp profiles should be stable

It's probably fine. Worse case scenario is you'll have to loosen timings at 3000mhz if it has particularly tight timings.

Damn that's cheap. I don't think it matters whether it's C16 or C18 if you're just building a budget system.
