EDIT… I see this version does include the colorized on the BD, just not in 4K, which would have required another disc.. and also raise the question " why? " .
You are trying to get the cleanest original film image possible, and then you run it through some 1990s-era Turner movies colorize processor?
There are people who like watching old movies or 50's/early 60's TV shows in black and white, and there are people who like listening to scratchy vinyl records, and I respect that, everyone has different preferences. But colorized movies and TV shows, and digital remakes of old analog albums exist because a lot of people do not find those things enjoyable. That's why.
Major spoilers ahead:
The story follows a man who repeatedly makes the right choice for the good of others at the expense of himself.
Eventually, he is essentially robbed during an audit and is about to be arrested.
Frustrated, he goes to a bridge and contemplates suicide.
His guardian angel (literally) jumps into the river instead, forcing this man to once again put someone else first and rescue him.
Angry, the man laments that he wishes he had never been born.
The Angel grants the wish and reality changes to reflect the new timeline.
The man gets to experience the town, it's inhabitants, and his friends (who no longer recognize him due to him essentially being erased from existence) and comes to know first hand just how much of a positive impact he's had on the town.
This includes things like the pharmacist becoming a beggar, his brother dying, his wife becoming an old spinster, and worse.
Instead of being disgruntled, the man becomes super grateful.
I won't spoil how the story wraps up so as to encourage you to watch it.
I definitely recommend watching this movie. It's my favorite movie and one I watch every year around Christmas. Even if you don't buy this deal, the movie's on Amazon Prime Video. Go watch it! Oh, and make sure to watch the black and white one. The colorized version is good but it's just off somehow.
