get the tineco a11, it's better
I have a tineco and it struggles to pick up small stuff (cereal crumbs etc) without it all falling out once the power turns off

I agree with this. I bought into the hype (between slickdeals and wirecutter) and picked up the s11 spartan during the $170ish Walmart deal.

I was disappointed..

* Doesn't stay on turbo mode (unlike dyson)
* It struggles to suction up small debris, as another commenter pointed out
* there is a large "dead zone" between the end of the vacuum head and where it actually starts suctioning. With dyson this space is pretty negligible. With the tineco it's probably a good 2 inches, so a 2inch perimeter around any wall or furniture is always dirty. So frustrating
* spits up debris when you stop operating it, no matter what you do
* trigger requires more active pressing to keep the unit powered on. I do like that the tineco has a hold down latch though, so you don't *have* to hold down the trigger. But if you activate turbo mode, it will auto shut off after about 10 seconds, requiring you to disengage and re engage the hold down trigger

There is a world of difference between the experience of the tineco vs dyson. Even at 50% the price point I find myself regretting buying the tineco. I enjoy using the dyson and watching my floor come clean. What's the use of paying less for a unit that doesnt achieve that?

Just my 2c

Parenthetically , my dyson v8 fluffy performed better on both hard floors and carpet, than the tineco spartan did on either.

I am only speaking from my experience and for me, these cordless stick vacuums are not the best tools for vacuuming large rugs, use an upright or canister for that job. Where these shine for me is on hard floors, small area rugs and stairs. I use my stick vacuum constantly to get the never ending supply of dirt and dust bunnies that show up on our tile floors. And it knocks out the stairs like nobody's business. Big areas of carpet tend to fill the dust bin too fast and the battery seems to run out at inopportune times.

Been wanting one of the Dyson sticks, but comments online about the V10 specifically gave me cold feet.

I've used both the v10 and s11 and the dyson has noticeably better suction. If I had a larger home with carpeted areas, the v10 is absolutely worth it. I'm not sold on the horizontal canister design - removing the front bin for cleaning is a bit of a pain and makes me feel like I may break it every time. It also has a tendency to throw an obstruction warning if you don't keep it pretty meticulously cleaned.

But for just hardwood in a smaller space the s11 suits my needs well at half the price. The engineering that went into where the filters are placed is very satisfying. Super easy disassemble compared to the dyson.

Remember to let the filter dry completely or you will get water into the circuit board and will need to replace the motor, main board and cyclone! It happened to me because I was impatient and didn't let the filter dry over night.

Was hoping for a Dyson V15 (or V12) deal. Wished I pulled the trigger during the BBB 30% off coupon V15 Direct deal....
