I read these to my son, all of them, between the ages of 8 and 9. He's now 10. He enjoyed them all, as did I. I paid $25 for the set, which I still think is a great deal.

I tried these with my 5 year old. We take turn reading and while she can read it, she finds it boring. I think it's just her attention span at 5 is not up to handling a wall of words with no pictures. I'll try again later. I think it's a great deal still.

Depends so much on the kid. Roughly elementary school age. My kid started reading super farking early, and the magic finger was a first book, and worked most of them 4-5.

These books are great, btw, though also dank af...

The magic finger teaches that eating meat is murder. George's medicine is about poisoning grandma with ivermectin. James' peach kills the aunts horribly. The witches sets out to convince your kid that the women in his life might be secretly evil cannibals.... Etc.

Still great imo.
