I use the Arc5 (or my old Arc4 while traveling) and finish with a razor blade. I get a closer shave and haven't replaced my shaver foil / blades in many years.
I have an older Panasonic that looks like this but it was 200+ dollars probably because it has a digital display. It's over 10 years old and works awesome this is a great set up if it is like this one I have. I don't use it every day but I replaced the blades once and it still works fine. I had a Braun before this and I replaced the blades a lot.
How do these compare to just shaving with straight Gillette ProGlide Shield blade in the shower with shaving gel? I've tried electric razors a long time back found blades to be easier and closer shave, curious to give it a retry.

Nothing will be as close as a blade shave but electric razors (Arc5 in my case) are close enough.

That's exactly what I do! It is also much kinder in one's skin. And faster possibly. I shave in the shower and that arc 5 is really waterproof.

It doesn't compare well. In my opinion electric shaving is far from cutting as close. I use electic first then finish with blade. Very fast and easy on your skin.

Edit: According to CCC it was $63 about 6 months ago. But that was before the dark times. Before the empire.
